The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Well that's the extension tubes ordered, hopefully arriving by next weekend then I can start to explore the finer details of my house and garden :)

Very nice indeed, what lens is that if you don't mind me asking?

Photax-Paragon 28mm f2.8 with an M42 mount. Can't say I intentionally was looking for it though - it was just offered up when I posted in the Wanted section for any vintage lens. Looking to get some more longer faster vintage lenses.

Excellent image rendering from it that a for sure!

It seems soft at f2.8 and seems to perform better stopped down. This one was taken at f4. I might do another lucky dip and see what else I can pick up vintage lens wise. Anybody got anything else cheap as chips

It looks tack sharp at F4 from that image

Not quite as sharp as the awesome 56mm f1.2, but yes pretty impressively sharp for a ten pound lens. I find the focus highlights hard to use in manual focus though on the X-H1. It's more of a focus plane indicator. Will try again at f2.8 when it's bright

I don't use any peaking when manual focusing on the H1, I just use magnify focus - by pressing the rear dial in with my thumb, I've just gotten used to this method over time - I find colour peaking is often off a little

Thanks for the tip Keith -I may try that as the peaking can be distracting

I've never done much in the way of video, but I'm amazed at how good the T2 & 100-400 are on a tripod. Quality is amazing, especially as this is through the bedroom window.

Edit - you need to click on it to see the video...

Neat, love that you casually state you have ducks come to your garden lol, I have to go for a fair bit of a walk or cycle before I come across any - have you tried messing about with the different colour profiles to see how it goes?

I was hoping that somebody would start playing around with videos using the Fuji-X system, as before lockdown its something I got extremely interested in. It all started because I was so impressed with some of the work that @garryknight had done with his camera and more so with his iPhone. I bought a DJI gimbal for my iPhone and started to mess about and kinda got hooked so I also bought a gimbal large enough to take a DSLR (which I don’t have anymore) that is naturally also good for my Fuji units. I then added a Rode microphone and also bought LumaFusion to edit the footage on my iPad, and started to get some reasonable results. Also a mag/book that has been very useful is The Digital Video Book together with watching many You Tubes. Not much chance at the moment unfortunately to do much with any photography as I’m very busy with Choppy delivering coronavirus supplies to out of the way places.
I’d be really interested to see if you or anyone else on this forum pursues this part of their Fuji-X photography.

George.

Nice patina on that BBB

Yes, he is very pleased with it. He originally wanted a standard BB but the shop has the bronze one and I persuaded him to make me spend an extra £500 - which when I think about it, I regret hugely. Neither of us knew how it would age but it does look nice. He thinks about restoring it to new from time to time but has resisted.

I had worn a crappy Citizen for the past 20 years but getting my son this watch got me interested in watches. So I got myself a Bremont but was then sucked into the world of cheap Russian and Chinese watches so now I've also got an Okean, a Big Zero and a Seagull 1963 (plus a fake Rolex and modded Seiko Fifty-five fathoms). I rarely wear the Bremont any more and by far the most accurate watch I have is that old Citizen. So the BBB cost me an awful lot in the end!

Speaking of watches .... My only working one :)

Old Oris TT1

Great watch. I had a couple of Oris’ in the past. I wish I’d kept the full lume diver. I had the exact same as yours for a while and sold it to buy a Seiko Marine Master.

Thanks, mate (y)
I like Oris, as they`re a bit different to the "usual suspects" ;) I keep looking at vintage Seiko Grand hi beats ...
