Yes
This is directed initially towards the TP staff @TheBigYin as a request, however feedback from users in the f&c is also wished for as I have no intention of upsetting anyone or expecting some sort of special treatment.

Much as I’m aware that one can make personal blogs on the internet however I would prefer to keep most of my sharing in here as I’ve become very accustomed to our little family, a number of which I have met in person.

So as it is at this very monent I am out with LF kit and now that I’m moderniser lol, my iphone is more than capable of taking photos and uploading onto TP whilst out on location.
For instance I have just taken a snapshot of the camera set up that I’ve just used to obtain a 5x4 exposure.
I would if possible like to share these photographic experiences in the f&c section , bearing in mind that the images would ALL contain FILM related material, FILM camera predominantly but always FILM related .

I have already on odd occasions posted in the digital section showing locations that I’ve shot on film and on one occasion in the chroma thread in here but without linking to the digital side etc, folk
in f&c are unlikely to see any iPhone images that I post elsewhere.
As the images from my phone are of course digital, that does go against film and conventional hence why I am asking if you guys would be ok with it or not and of course wether the TP staff and regulations would allow in the first place.

If a good to go response then that would be ace, if not then I won’t be upset.... I am too old and mature to sulk !! Lol

What I do ask, just in case someone on the forum decides to voice their opinion in a not too nice way, I am happy to hear anyone’s opinion however I do not wish to be shot down in flames for requesting something that some may feel is inappropriate. please by all means say if you do not approve but without belittlement please[emoji6]

Do you want it to be a thread for just your photos or an open thread where others also share their outings? I don't have problem with it either way but the latter seems to sit perfectly well within Talk F&C, the former might sit better in Personal Projects but as we know coaxing the fusties and custies friendly and convivial crowd out into the less-cooth parts of the site is impossible task. Either way, just start a thread and get on with it, I really can't see anyone complaining.

Sorry Chris I could have done to have made that clearer.
The latter idea that you state as in an open thread.
I don’t know if keeping formats separate is preferable to some ... LF, MF subminiature oops sorry I mean 35mm lol
For me I’d be happy to go with the majority .

From what I can see the only real stipulation would have to be that all images express a film theme, that’s to say for example not just a snapshot of a view that one was thinking of capturing on film .
It may even expand a little into short video clips, kinda like mini tutorials .
I dunno I’m just voicing what comes into my head.

If I’ve made a load of typos i appologise as I’m out in the sticks lugging LF kit uphill and not warring any reading aide.... ie my specs ! [emoji23]

As F&C is primarily the only reason I use TP anymore, I would be very much up for seeing and contributing to such a thread. In fact it was only an hour ago I was talking to Vic about loading some dark slides and finally giving the Wista that @StephenM lent me a run out and documenting it with some phone images along the way (I would probably add them to my IG story anyway) would be fun. :)

Doesn't bother me a digi shot now and again showing equipment, it's been done here quite a few times. But IMO shots of scenery, buildings (you know what I mean) would be best on film.

Let's face it, it's pretty relaxed in here. Posting up a shot taken on digital of a subject matter that is related to film - totally fine IMO! If you account for the pedantry, the forum section is simply called 'Film & Conventional', not 'Film & Conventional - banish all digital'. It's a subforum for talking about film and conventional and all that falls under that umbrella.

Ok from what I can read without gigs it all sounds promising. Thank you for your support!

Here’s what I occupied myself with earlier

Canham dlc

Atm I am having to get off this hill ASAP as a thunderstorm rapidly closing in and I don’t wanna be this high with lightning around!

Shame as I was hoping to get a landscape in too.

Perhaps a grab shot on the descent as there is a clearing so far down..... if the rain holds off.....

Well - I think it's a cracking idea... Especially as a "Group Contributions Thread"....

personally, I'd see no issue with adding cameraphone images for setup / BTS or even just "atmosphere snaps" alongside (or even as "digital polaroids" prior to getting your film developed and scanned) - anything that helps the people reading "join the experience" as it were...

Now, as to location. Ideally, as it seems likely to be image heavy, it AUGHT to be in the Photos from Film section. BUT, and it's a serious but... if images go in there, then they're liable to pop up on the front page of the forum, in the image slider - and - people WILL just see the thumbnail and crash in critiquing the images which are nothing but phone/instagram snaps. I could write a HEADER POST that mentions that as far as this particular thread goes, Critique is suspended apart from images specifically tagged as being on Film - but nobody will read it, and they'll be an arse anyway, and then I'll have to ban them from the thread, or the forum, and I'll get stressed and annoyed again.

So, on balance, I think that once we've collaboratively decided what kind of things we envisage, and where we see things going with the thread, someone (bagsy not me!) is appointed to post a NEW thread IN HERE - the F&C Talk bit. It's against my fondness for "everything in its place" and it'll probably send Marcel's OCD off the end of the meter, but I honestly think it's probably the best option - especially as I'm not around here quite as much as I used to since having to rejoin the ranks of the wage-slaves.

I only hope that at some point I have chance to get out of the house and actually add an outing or two of my own to the thread....

Thanks for that Mark.
I had to smirk at some of your comments , particularly about nothing being read/,adhered to and the ban hammer having to be polished up again and then of course Marcel’s OCD [emoji23]
Bless him! ...... @Marcel, we luv ya really! [emoji6]

Going on Marks feedback, I’m happy for the thread to be an open joint effort between us all so feel free to express your ideas of how you would like it to work, what you would like to get from it etc etc.

For me personally, I wish to post, without too much length to cause boredom, snapshots, brief video clips and a little documentary of what I’m actually on with at any given time ....sort of live feed if you like.
Predominantly whilst out using kit but possibly at the film dev, paper printing / darkroom stage too.

Over to you guys.....

Well not wishing to rock the boat but the shot below is of my Wista taken with my Rolleiflex :) not a pixel to be seen (well not until it was scanned and put onto flickr)

Wista Sunset by Andy, on Flickr

and a few more camera set ups. Contax 139Q.

Works for me I'm often finding excuses to post on here when I'm waiting on fomapan doing it's very slow thing.

Think this is a great idea - my phone camera is truly awful but if I can persuade it to open, not crash my phone, and take a photo (possibly whilst waiting for Foma 100 to do it's very slow thing - a comment which did make me chuckle!) than I might just try to remember to post them!

Let's face it - any photo in this section had been digitised somehow, so I've certainly got no issues with digital pictures of film photography going up!

So is this the thread then or is this just the idea for the thread and then there will be another thread separate to this thread as the actual thread because this isn't it?

Lol [emoji23] i have to confess that I am not 100% sure tbh.
I get the impression from Mark @TheBigYin that due to the probable high input of media into the thread that some magic has to be done by @Marcel so that we don’t bring TP crashing to the ground [emoji23]

It doesn't need anything special doing to the thread, or any fiddling around with settings, I was just suggesting that someone made a nice clear "intro post" in a seperate thread, once we;d agreed the parameters under which we're going to operate it... If you want - I'll post one up when I finish work - so after 5pm today....

Ah ok myapologies for misunderstanding your earlier post.

Much as it is I who brought this thread and idea forward, if you or someone else wishes to start a new thread with suitable intro post then I’m up for that as I’m sure it would be much more ´ ´professional ´ and conçise than if i attempt it.

So, just to be crystal clear, is this the thread or is this the thread about the thread?

:)
Sounds like a cracking idea, Asha. I don't see a problem with abit of digi mixed in. It's RL afterall.

Confused?
Me too but not as much as I am frustrated......Frustrated with another thread which refuses to enter the eye of this darned needle..... Maybe I need to resort to my LF loupe to see where to aim
.[/QUOTE]

okey dokey.... here's the actual thread for the excursions...

https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/t...l-thread-warning-may-be-picture-heavy.711748/

try and keep that thread for either posting your trips out, or for reacting go someones sharing. And, until we settle into how it can/could/should/is going to work, we can try and keep any discussion of the "nuts and bolts" in here...
Absolutely brilliant

I’ve not long since read the disclaimer and I’m still in pain with my ribs from laughing.
In my present circumstances I dunno if that’s a good thing or not

Excellent wording Mark and very much appreciated.

As for my first postings, I’m going to avoid previous outings and concentrate from here forth.
Hopefully starting this weekend although atm it seems you lot have got my south of France weather and we’ve got yours☹️

Here’s looking forward to some interesting, perhaps educational and I suspect some amusing personal togging experiences.... enjoy everyone, I certainly will

and I'd have put my next months mortgage on the first person to ignore what I said and ask questions in the wrong thread would have been ...

erm well I have done this a few times, in the past, with a series of pictures for one of my stories  So I assume it would go here now.

Yes Brian. That's the thread for posting your photo expedition storys. Its NOT the place to ask questions about it, so i've deleted the post. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

o_O erm well if you prefer that I don't post here anymore then I will comply.

no need to come over like a complete drama llama Brian... all i'm asking is actually read some of the stuff posted before just crashing in...

as I said, I pretty much KNEW you'd post in there with something i'd just asked you not to - was expecting it, and simply moved it to the right place.

Believe me, if I wanted you to stop posting, you'd have been gone from this forum long ago. I actually quite enjoy your posts when you're irritating other people, and don't want to put you off from posting, but, just remember when I post in here, there are times i'm not posting as me, i'm posting as the staff/management of this forum, and it might be a good idea to read what I say 2, 3, or however many times it takes before you get what I'm saying - and - if you still don't get it, ask me in a PM, and i'll tell you without derailing threads or making it a PITA for others to have to report your post in the wrong thread...

Brian, I think you should continue to do what you do.
You are one of the people that make F&C the wonderful place that it is.

edit.
Just to add I’m not suggesting for a moment that any disregarding of the rules should be encouraged it’s just that I really enjoy seeing the tangents that your mind takes, it’s like a magical mystery tour on the F&C bus.

Brian, do not even think about stopping posting, the place would not be the same without you, in fact it would be much the worse. (y)(y)(y)

Well I can't go wrong if I don't open my mouth and there is always the backup of "it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt". :D

Ah but Brian remember this 'tis better the fool that speaks his mind than the wise man who remains silent'.... I just made that up, deep innit :D

And as the great actor Gordon Jackson once said “many a mickle makes a muckle” its been my guide for many years.

Oh dammit Andy you’ve clarified that I’m a complete fool !! [emoji15]
