The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Looking for some help, I'm thinking about buying an xt4 and it comes with the 16 to 80mm kit lens. Has anyone any feedback on this lens,? I would be using it for landscapes.

Great shots. Do you find anything is missing compared with your DSLR photos, assuming you had one? Also the same question if you did wildlife or sports photograph?

I used to shoot a lot of wildlife, that was my main interest in photography, but once I got my first T2 I never really looked back. Armed with the 100-400 plus 1.4TC it gives me similar reach than my old 7D2 & Sigma 150-600, but with a better lens & better body. I can shoot at 6400 ISO and easily clean the images in Lightroom.

Have a look here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfFjfag

Do I miss anything? Certainly not the weight!! And with practice I have managed to get my landscape work as good, if not better than when I had a 6D. The most important thing is that I love using the Fuji bodies. I find the "semi analogue" layout a better way than doing everything on menus. I can't see me going back to a DSLR now...

It's a TR3

Thought so...

Thanks.

I still use my Canons in preference to my Fuji for most of my photography. Old habits die hard.

A couple from a self isolating walk yesterday from Whale chine to Coastguard cottages in the West Wight. The regular cliff falls sometimes reveal secrets from the jurassic history of the Island.

Nice shots - Isle of Wight I assume? Have fond memories from my childhood of staying at the Sandown Bay holiday chalets and different places around the island (y)

It’s on my radar. Primarily for the useful focal range. I’ve watched a lot of reviews. Many are lukewarm because even stopped down the corners are soft. It’s also weak at 80mm
I don’t do landscape nor do I care much about the corners. For you perhaps the 16-55 f2.8 if it has to be a zoom.
Fuji primes like the 16 & 23 f1.4 are fabulous.

I got one delivered at the weekend and only had chance to use it once but wasn’t impressed.

I was reading up on it last night and I’m using it on an xt2 but people seem to be having better results with it on t3 and t4 using the electronic front curtain shutter which my xt2 doesn’t have.

Popped in for fuel.

Two very nice Fujigraphs, that bring back many memories for me, some good, some not so good. Particularly liking #2.

“Before I first came to the UK and while working for “Uncle Sam” the FD of the CH-47 was my office as they say for a time or two. Lovely things to fly, very stable, very powerful and fast despite their size. The choppers that I fly these days would probably fit inside one with the fans fully parked”

I'm still fiddling around with settings on my new X100V - I've also been looking at the manual online, but wondered if anyone knows how to set it up as follows please.... I like to use the OVF only for composing and taking the snap, I want the LCD off so no eye sensor and no flicking on and off. I've also got the setting turned off that displays the image after the shutter is released. The only time I want to use the LCD is for adjusting settings that I haven't got an external control assigned and for playing back the images every now and then.

Any ideas ?

Viewfinder only+sensor using auto shut off tho conserve battery. Flick the front switch to ovf

You'll still have to press view mode to open the lcd for viewing. That's why I've set the top fn button to change the viewfinder/lcd mode.

Thx Alan and yep the Isle of Wight. Cliff path from Chale to Atherfield.

@Speedy136 yep, know what you mean! This was my birthday, just packed the camera to get some pics of the family, but there’s some gems if you’re there for taking photos though, and I’ve never even explored the cave! I’ve not been out there with a tripod at sunrise/set for years, so must give it another go!

Peak designs field pouch with the x100v. Fits with the hood also fits on end. Room for other stuff and 4 extra pockets for batteries etc..

Needs a peak strap for shouldering or has a belt loop.

We'll made and tiny!

As my other MTB was just too heavy for me I got a Hybrid, just got an email saying my Whyte Ridgeway has just been dispatched so I feel like a big kid at the moment. So when I go out the X100V will be with me, F R E E D O M :banana:

I have been out looking for places to shoot today, quiet Dorset B roads, 275bhp & 4WD.... I was grinning like a Cheshire cat when I got home....

First trip out with the x100v. One handed whilst holding the pup on his lead, liking this little camera.
To be honest, it was just great to get out for an hour. Didn't see another person.

I may go back to shutter focusing, back button focusing was tricky with the pup dragging me around the trails. Switching from Manual focus to single puts the focusing on the shutter button.
Just have a lifelong habit of pressing a back button.

wOw David, such a fantastic capture for sure, awesome Sir...! This is a wall hanger for sure.
Excellent content/composition/skills.

This is a magical scene, simply beautiful.

Peter

Lovely image David. That path is so inviting and the little gate really adds to the shot.
