Hi all.
I am working on another project for a friend who writes short stories in book form, all funds go to MNDA. In the past i have supplied with front pages and inserts for various stories.
I have been asked to produce a Grave stone of the period 1808, i have plenty of images in my files, but i need to add a period font and to make it look as if its carved into the stone ( as attached).
Been trying various shadows, but not quite there, any advice please.

Take a look at Copperplate. https://fontmeme.com/fonts/copperplate-font/

Agreed, Copperplate is a good start, and use the Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss > Inner Bevel > Chisel Hard as a starting point, then play around with the direction of the light to get it looking right...

Thanks Ian and Mark, thanks for the link....Yep, think i can handle that...

Quick 2 minute edit:

Text applied as a layer, given the style as above, warped to adjust perspective of the text to match orientation of the gravestone, lighting direction adjusted to match shadows in photo, then the test layer mode changed to "difference" and layer opacity amended to give a more natural aged look...

Difficult to appreciate properly, on a small source photo, but I think it gives some idea...

Hey Mark, that has turned out much better than my last result. Thank you, any chance in doing me a psd layer please of the following .

"Here Lies the remains
of an old lady
of no name.
whom died in the year
1808. "

Thank you Mark, it appears i didn't follow your advice properly in the first instance. Got it now though. Many thanks.

The version I always remember is:-
Johnny was a scientist
But a scientist no more
What he thought was H2O
Was (actually) H2SO4
