Back when the first X1D came out I had a go with it at Ffords in Scotland for a couple of hours and didn't like it, I liked the look of it but the IVF was terrible, it was slow and struggled to find focus, 4 or 5 yers later I am now thinking of getting there II version, problem is I live in Phuket therefore I would need to ship it in without trying it first (without COVID I could have Easley jumped on a plane and flew down to Malaysia and try it there) so my question is this;

1/. How is the Newer X1D II
2/. How is the EVF
3/. Hows the speed of the auto focus (especially the 80mm f1.9)
4/. How is the battery life

I still have my Nikon D850 that I use for wildlife and bird photography, I just miss having a nice compact good quality camera around my neck for everyday stuff that is currently getting taken with a iPhone

The x1d has always struck me as you're paying a lot of cash for the Hassleblad name. But thats no help for your questions

Dan's used both extensively afaik so can probably answer your questions.

Firstly I’m only selling my X1D II because I want the the 907X same thing just a different form factor. I like the waist level / top down approach.

I have the 80mm 1.9 and 135mm 2.8 with 1.7x Tc

I have ordered the 45mm P as well as the 907x

I had the original X1D, one of the major benefits is the start up time is much faster, something like from about 8 seconds to 4.

On the X1D it was harder to press the shutter, that’s Been improved, feels normal now.

The X1D II rear screen is greatly improved, larger and higher resolution with new UI, don’t know if old x1d got a firmware update for UI.

I’m happy with the EVF on the x1d Ii, can’t remember the x1d evf - don’t know if they differ, on phone else I would quickly check.

Autofocus I don’t think has changed between them, but I still use the 80mm 1.9 for live music and photos of my dogs. You could always stick it in MF and use back button focussing so you don’t have to wait for the AF so often, just update it now and then.

Battery life is pretty good, I can shoot live music for 2 1/2 hours, so quite intensive use, and maybe use just over a battery.

If you want snappy, why not a Leica Q2?
Though you mention 80mm that is not a walkabout replacement for a phone.

I had a Q2 and sold it......... didn't like the fixed 28mm FOV.
