CBD oil - any experience from users ?

Yes
I have been taking fairly strong pain killers for a couple of years for shoulder pain, both pre-op and post-op.
I struggle most at night as I cannot sleep/lie on either side nor my front, and my back gets sore after a few hours.
So..... I am wondering if any of you have tried CBD oil, and if so what can you tell me. Has it helped you with pain and sleep ?
I'd prefer to swallow pills than put drops under my tongue (I have read that it tastes vile) and what brands have you found work best for you ?
Thanks for any help !

Ouch.... no help but shoulders hurt, really hurt. I’m sorry
Thanks Hugh.
Don't they just. I'd been having steroid jabs every 4 months for a few years - they last for a month, but can't be given more often than 4 monthly, so I'd get a month with reduced pain, then back to the seemingly total lack of proper sleep, just restless tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable. I thought the op, last New Years Eve (what kind of way is that to celebrate ?) would bring relief, but the surgeon suggested that had he seen me a few years earlier I'd have healed faster.
So, 9 and a half months later and I am now able to do things like wash my hair, can almost scratch my other shoulder, and am now reducing my pill intake from 19 a day - Naproxin, Gabapentin, Codeine and paracetamol.
But, just for a giggle, my other shoulder has the same problem and Covid has meant no injections.
To make this worthy of a book, I am waiting to have 2 or possibly 4 operations on my feet but these will mean I need to be able to use crutches for several months, and guess what, crutch use means working shoulders required..

I had all that for about 2 years following a M/C accident, brachial plexus injury, the nerves were ripped apart, that triggered my shoulder muscles, this was almost 40 years ago now. (and it still niggles to this day) Although years of physio trained me to re-use other muscles to compensate.
Very strong pain killers took the edge off the pain, even walking hurt my shoulder even though it was strapped up.
The pain killers ( I forget the name now) were apparently very addictive so I was only allowed them short term.
And then someone told me about Tiger Balm ( the Red stuff)
Brilliant (y) just don't get it near your eyes or other sensitive areas, otherwise it'll burn like hell itself, just don't ask me how I know :D )
Give it a go, you have nothing to lose, except for the six quid it costs.
And it goes a very long way..

35 years ago I too had a bike smash, ended up meeting a nurse who I've yet to shake off. Bleddy awful things these bikes !

I'd forgotten about Tiger Balm and I guess we've both had similar experiences with it. Not good on one's pet Cobra.
I'll get some asap, thanks !

Is that two comments or one Steve?

And of course if it does work, for you, its far better than shoving barbiturates etc into your blood stream (y)
Its not instant, initially, your'll need to use it ad lib, for a couple of days, before you start to notice a difference though :)
And then apply as required.

Some things are best left off forum, and maybe open to ones interpretation..
:D

:cautious:

Fair enough, much like many things, thanks.

I try to remember to use nitrile gloves when applying the stuff.

Yes, I also recommend gloves when applying Tiger Balm! Getting it out the jar will mean half of it under your fingernail...

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen it for sale in supermarkets so it's not just a chemist thing.

I think Cobra may have been using them as well when he had his experience. Or maybe that was just me. I thought every schoolboy had this sort of initiation...?

Waste of time for me unless it has the “illegal“ part still in it. Tried loads of different types and strengths , vapes, capsules, gummies, sprays, oil drops, balms. Spent a small fortune.

The only one that’s ever helped my chronic (20 years + Of chronic back and joint pain and nerve damage after spinal surgery) was one I originally got off eBay called cbd+. Its a vaping liquid that actually tastes lush. I’m not a smoker or vaper but I was desperate so tried it. The plus is what made it work, but some people would have you think it’s the root of all evil in the world. Ebay soon banned it, but the guy I got it from emailed me and I’ve been buying it from him as and when needed. I rarely take it, only on really bad days, but a few puffs can kill the pain and relax my super tight muscles with little other side effects. Of course it’s a evening only thing and you cant drive or do much else afterwards.

So is the 'active' part illegal, and do you have any idea if it would show up on a drugs test ?
I'm of an age where I feel I could confess to my addled past, so not a root of all evil believer, just wondering.
If it were available in some other form that didn't require smoking I'd be curious to try it - having stopped smoking cigarettes 25 years ago I can't inhale anything these days without major coughing and spluttering..!
Is this the same thing do you know Tom ?

Yes the active part is illegal. As to drugs tests, I would assume it would show up as you are still ingesting it Via the vape.
The one you linked isn’t the one I use, but I will pm you the link.

Indeed it was very few chemists when I starting using it, it was still snake oil back then,
Holland & Barratt was my main source, but even Tesco stock it these days.

I think Cobra may have been using them as well when he had his experience.
I just didn't wash my hands thoroughly :D

Thanks Tom, much appreciated.

The joy of marigolds, or even nitrile gloves. No need to ever wash ones hands, no matter what you hold in them..
