Olympus 150-400mm f/4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO M.Zuiko Review
Find out if the Olympus 150-400mm lens is right for you.www.imaging-resource.com
PS FWIW I do rate IR reviews....one of the ones I trusted when make my purchase choices.
Well at 6.5k it's far cheaper than Canons 200/400 with a built in tc around 10k and opens more opportunity's to get the shot so yes it will make people better photographers , if i was still with Olympus I would get one .The new 150-400 at 6.5K I hope it makes you all that buy, better phographers.

There is a Mike Inkley vid out, he speaks highly of it and the shots look razor sharp. Looking forward to seeing what people on here do with that investment. If money was no object it would be in my bag for sure Robert.Well at 6.5k it's far cheaper than Canons 200/400 with a built in tc around 10k and opens more opportunity's to get the shot so yes it will make people better photographers , if i was still with Olympus I would get one .

Potential is the point here Robin, it would be great to have that potential to use such a beast of a lens..... I have no plans to buy (so far!) but what a lens like this does is provide the POTENTIAL for the photographer to capture 'better' photos. It is enabling.
I agree with Rob :
This is what i went for Jeff it is a great combo but f6.3 can be limiting as the light drops so then i used my Olympus with the 300 f4 the problem was having to take 2 systems with me so i got the FE 600 f4 and let my Olympus go .if I was seriously contemplating this (I'm not ) but if I would also consider a Sony A9mkii and 200-600 lens for the same price
The top one is best joe ,you really need the bird looking more towards the camera ,but exposure is right despite your doubts
one from today ringed plover ,massive nearly 100% crop on this ,I'm really pleased with how the lens performs with results like this

and another from yesterday in the storm , sky replacement used as the original was a uniform dark grey with no appeal

the sun would have been behind me if there had been any , the buildings etc in the background are really there but around 3 miles distant across the estuary . and it was a really stormy gloomy day at one point the clouds were virtually black .. from home I can see across the estuary daily from the living room and the changes in visibility are unreal at times going from bright and clear to totally obscured within a few minutes as a weather front moves along the coast . I'll try to do a original to show you how bad it wasI really like the image Jeff. But its the sky replacement that bugs me. I'm glad you made it clear, but now I'm wondering if you have changed the whole background or just the sky? In reality, if it was bright and sunny as the background suggests, there would have been some shadows on the foreground, somewhere, wouldn't there?
I think that works very well and is a definite improvement on the original.here ya go original (next frame ) image showing how dull and flat it was and the re-worked sky one together. now can you see my reasonings

Thanks Andrew and Simon once the weather improves and I can hit the right spots I will start to add some of my own skies to the data bank , I feel the main problem is most of there skies were taken in the u.s.a so don’t look quiet right .. this bloody covid is so restrictiveAgreed, I think that's one of the better examples I've seen for use of the new PS sky replacement tool. Well done Jeff. If you hadn't of said, I doubt anyone would have noticed.
when I posted this the other day I said it was a big crop , so doing a repost with the cropped and uncropped shots . got to love how sharp the new oly 100-400 is wide open

Not a problem at all Jerry ,to me it’s just a pastime/ hobby gives me something to do while swmbo watches endless game shows .... in all honesty I rarely take anything seriously ,just want to keep the mind activeMore technically excellent shots from Jeff!
Regarding the starlings / sky replacement, I know I've got a bee in my bonnet about replacing skies but I'd have been quite happy with your cloudy version, although I might have done a little more processing on it. I really like it as an image.
Am still very pleased indeed with my Olympus ED 100-400mm (on M1X). Yes it would be nice to have a wider aperture sometimes and for it to focus and track faster in pre sunrise and post sunset light but the key to happiness is to enjoy what you've got rather than think too much about what you haven't got (I must stop watching those videos about the new 150-400mm Pro!).
I honestly can't see myself using my ED 300mm F/4 Pro any more and am seriously considering offering it for sale.
