What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

Really enjoyed watching this egret hunting for his supper.....I appreciate my photos aren’t technically perfect but I’m just really enjoying getting started, it’s a great pastime during this difficult time.

It is a great passtime Susie, and please keep posting. I enjoy seeing others images, even if they're not technically perfect.....
There's a lot of good photographers on here that can also help you to improve your photography though if you want....

Posting in this thread has always been a bit fun Susie, offering or giving crit isn't what its about, just post what you see :)

Les @Lez325 you've been here long enough and should've known better :LOL:

I posted what I saw too Phil, out of focus birds mate :)

sorry @susiejb - not meant to put you off photography, you crack on= a much nicer shot today- love the Starling :)

If I might make a suggestion, try to get Bird shots with a clean Background- they look so much nicer in my opinion- here's one I shot last week I believe it was.

Also if you have a Bird feeder- think about placing a bare branch close by - gives them something to land on for the cleaner shots

Thanks @Lez325 , I won’t be put off, I suppose I was so chuffed at getting the bullfinch photo I just felt a bit deflated. It’s difficult for an oldie like me with her grannycam :) to join a thread where there are so many excellent photographers. I do know my camera isn’t at it’s best in low light so I’m looking forward to some bright sunny days. For me it’s a enjoyable hobby and especially at the moment a distraction, but it would be foolish not to always strive to do better, and with that in mind I’ll keep on taking your advice on board :)

I am really sorry I made you feel that way ( deflated) please feel free to ignore my every comment :( I was at the time unaware that this section was not available for critique and maybe I shouldn't be so quick off the mark

My camera is excellent for low light ( Sony a7Riv ) and my Sony 200-600mm FE lens does the business too ( ok if you have a spare £5,500)

Keep at it and as I say no messy backgrounds can really make an image into a WOW :)

Like this - shot from my pop up bird hide 7am laying flat on my belly for almost an hour :) Expensive and yet fulfilling hobby - although I do shoot weddings and Portraits too - when this Covid 19 Buggers off

Good luck in whatever you decide to Photograph and as a further apology- I will help you in anyway I can Photographically speaking - just ask :)

Thank you for you comment @Lez325 :) thats a fabulous reflection in your egret shot.

@Phil-D I’m envious of the snow, we hardly ever get any here in Cornwall. I really like your gull in flight, poor mallard having to ice skate :) I took a lot yesterday but the one I like the most was this redshank, I did like my egret having a bad hair day too.
