You know when you you got a dial/button/power tool handle that's made of rubber and it goes all sticky to touch. What's the best way to clean these things?
My dial on the volume control of a set of Bose desktop speakers has gone like this. The rubber part at the top.

Isopropyl alcohol works really well for this, I did the buttons on my car stereo (which had got horribly tacky)

I use wd40 to remove sticky residue from stuff, not tried it on rubber buttons yet though.

Never heard of it until now. Will get some (y)

if you google 'cleaning sticky radio buttons' you'll get plenty of hits on it

Isoprop is very useful. I use it to clean my reading glasses, sunglasses, laptop and cellphone screens, lenses and various other things; and it can also be used as a hand sanitizer. Dilute it 70/30 with water for most purposes.

Just bought some. When it comes what's the best thing to put it on to clean. Kitchen roll, lint cloth or other?

Preferably a lint free cloth - then you won't have to pick up/off all the little white bits. ;)

Mmm IPA.. I love this stuff. Love using it to dissolve glue from stickers, cleaning PCBs that's covered in flux. Can be used for plant matter extractions.. Just don't get it on your skin or breathe the fumes!! When I buy a secondhand bit of kit the IPA is well used t give it a clean.

Gives a cracking hangover...

My Isopropyl alcohol arrived. £2.99 from fleabay. It had good reviews and is 99.9% pure alcohol.... bit strong for wee dram in the coffee though
It cleaned my dial up a treat. No more tacky sticky buttons or dials for me from now on (y)

Thanks everyone :ty:
