London Camera Exchange Moves to Employee Ownership

I think this is great news as it not only gives the staff a vested interest in the performance of the company but an opportunity to directly affect the outcome.

I'm not sure what a third store in Bristol can do that the existing two don't already though.

More than 50% of my used items come from LCE. They are really great and as mentioned always up for doing a good deal. Sometimes I have got lenses close to trade-in prices!

Great company and long may they keep trading. I wish I could go down the physical shops, the staff are really nice and helpful. For a change they are actually knowledgeable.

The only "proper" camera shop left in town.

LCE, got my first Canon 350 from the Nottingham shop years ago, great staff and very knowledgeable.

Nothing but postives from me, now my go to camera gear company. Excellent.

Likewise - if only MPB could be like them.
I don't know why MPB gets so much stick sometimes... they are fine 95% of the time. 5% of the time they require a little bit of chasing to get things done but overall they are still good.

I've tried to buy things a couple of times. Once for various reasons I had to call to make the purchase, but having tried to call multiple times over a couple of days I could NEVER get through, and the lens eventually sold. When you call LCE there is always someone to answer in working hours. On a separate occasion I bought a lens for my wife's camera, but it was faulty on arrival (described as mint iirc). The replacement - I was assured it would be tested before despatch - was also dead. With LCE you can call and they will check the actual lens for you while you're on the phone, even taking and sending test photos.

That's why I wish MPB were like LCE.

I have mostly used them for selling than buying.
I have only bought three items from them.
First lens was decentered and returning it was simple and easy.
Second lens was in better condition than described.
Bought a bag last week. It's missing a small part which wasn't mentioned in description. I emailed them on Friday morning. They got back to me in the evening to book a collection for returns.
I have replied back but because of the weekend it's stalled but hopefully returning will be as painless as the first time.

In recent years I have used LCE for every equipment purchase. All started years ago when I was looking for a D810 and after trawling the internet I found I could buy it just as cheaply (?) in a local shop as I could online, the advantage being that I buy it and I immediately have it in my sticky mitts. I find them helpful and, although in the end I didn't do it, they give a good price for part ex or just straight cash.
