Notice Some big changes coming to TP

You forgot a bit.......

Immediately : The TP app will be withdrawn from the App Store(s) this week, and will cease to function by 30/04.
Immediately : No new advertising requests, current advertisers may continue.
Immediately : Remove Facebook / Social Media Integration with the forums
Immediately : Close hot topics
Immediately : No more political or religious discussions.
Marcel always said from the the outset, the forum would be free for all.
But if the forum passes to new owners, who knows what the future holds, in that respect??

The top 3 are a given, the last two is in the hands of any new owners.

I'll start the bidding at......

That begs the question who are the prospective new owners?
All I, that is anyone can say at the moment is that Marcel is negotiating

Easy to forget how much hard work goes into running something like TP.
Goes without saying everyone here is very grateful for all the effort put in by those behind the scenes.

No idea how these things work, but could something like a members owned website be possible? Similar to those football clubs tbat are now in the hands of the supporters.

Marcel thank you, the best for your future.........cheers as well to all the mods. I have no conception what so ever of what it must take to run and manage something like this, all credit to all!!

It would be a shame for a place like this to turn into something else, other than what it is. i've personally learnt a huge amount here, LMFAO and also been completely bewildered by the lunacy of humanity.

best always

stu

Obviously your health and well being comes first Marcel, as others have said. That said losing TP would be a massive loss, but here’s hoping it won’t come to that!

Thank you, Marcel and the mods for making this such a fun and welcoming place. I hope that someone with the same enthusiasm can take it over. Because it would be a real shame to see it vanish into the system.

Wow, I fully understand your position Marcel, the forums have grown beyond recognition over the years and it cannot have been easy at any point to keep it all together and running as well as you have.
I think I speak for many here when I say the forums have have become a second home for me, sticking with me long after my zest for photography faded and I'll miss them if it all comes to an end.
However it goes I want to say thanks to you for stepping up and being willing to give so much of yourself.

I've only been here 8 years @Marcel, but have found your forum to be a fantastic resource and community. So deepest thanks for all your work.
I wish you all the best going forward and dearly hope that your discussions bear fruit and enable the forum to continue in some form or another

I have learnt so much from here, and that has really helped me professionally! It will be a shame to see it go, but things change, they always will!!

Thank you for everything up until now, to you and all the team and contributors.

Fingers crossed it will carry on.

T

As a newbie (Jan 2012) this place has been an invaluable resource for location scouting & sharing (I've been places I never would have thought about going without TP), I've bought gear I didn't know I needed (which later turned out that I now can't do without)

Sure there are some zoomers (Scottish sense, not related to internet video call software) but you're bound to get that sort of thing anywhere but overall the mods under Marcel's tutelage have kept it a great place to come as an oasis of (relative) sanity on the internet.

@Marcel as others have said your health, life/work balance (counting this as work) and family always trump us moaning gits on here. Hope it can continue in a similar vein but all things come to an end eventually and TP outlasted FriendsReunited, Bebo & MySpace

Marcel - legend for creating this fantastic place and keeping it going all these years.
Mods - stalwarts all. Respect for your commitment

Fingers crossed the Forum keeps going in some form...

Well done creating TP and keeping it going so long. I'll miss it if it closes.

Bu99ger 'eck!

As others have said, thanks for all your efforts over the years - same goes to all the moderating team, past and present.

Do what's best for you Marcel.
and thanks for the time and effort of all the team.

I guess this has been coming for a while but it's still a bit of a shock, perfectly understandable you have to put your own health and sanity first.
If TP goes it will be a loss, it's been a daily port of call for interest and learning about photography and many other things.
Thank you for making this possible, I wish you well. :)

Do what's best for you Marcel.
and thanks for the time and effort of all the team.
Plus one to this.

Thanks for all the work put in to making TP what it is.

Personally, I'll miss the forum if it goes, despite making little contribution over the last few years. Mostly I read, learn, laugh and enjoy the forum.

I can only add to the sentiments expressed above. This site has utterly renewed my enthusiasm for photography as a hobby, and has enabled me to set targets and standards to achieve. I have the site as a permanently open tab in my browser. I cannot imagine an alternative that would come close to this site as a home and resource for me.

Is there any way to archive the information contained in the forum so that people can search the archive? There is an amazing resource here that people can learn from.

PC Advisor forums disappeared recently with the loss of a huge amount of knowledge. I really hope this doesn't happen to TP.

I don't post very often on here, but this site has been such an invaluable source of information for me over the years. Thank you for making this possible Marcel, and best wishes to you and the rest of the moderating team, irrespective of what happens to TP.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for the hours of amusement you have given me with this forum, I wish you all the best for whatever you decide
Hopefully the forum will continue but it won't be that same

No matter what happens, I want to thank you and everyone else involved, for such a wonderful forum.
I hope, TP continues, but totally understand the difficulties.

Take care.

Well I have to say thanks to Marcel (and the mods) for making TP what it is.
I spend half of my life here, and I would be sad to see it go.
I too have made good friends on TP (and a few enemies, no doubt ;) ).
Fingers crossed everything works out and TP can continue.

Whatever happens, all the best to everyone in the TP family....:ty:

I have not been with you for very long, but what I found is this forum was run in a very civilised manner, not like some I could mention and a really decent place to visit and talk photography. There is little bickering or bad language - there is enough of that elsewhere.

I hope this site can be kept alive in some form. If I can help please get in touch.

I would like to add my thanks for those at the coal face of TP, I usually check in a couple of times a day and it would be a great loss to this community if it should falter. Sadly I get little time for photography these days, but would miss my visits.

Like many others here , I have taken you and the others for granted for all the background stuff that keeps this forum running , I am sorry for that and to hear the Forum maybe coming to an end . I hope the forum continues , I enjoy it here , and pop in almost every day . I have leant a lot here , and met some people I would now consider friends . I can appreciate all your reasons for wanting to retire , and thank you for giving us what you have so far . You should be proud of yourself . I wish you well , even if we never were acquainted .

Best wishes Mark .

So sad to read this and all I can say to Marcel and the Mods, you have been fantastic in my years here as a member and I have enjoyed the great times. Everyone has been great here to me in the past and during the last few months and years, and I thank you all for helping me.
I do hope some thing can be done to keep this great forum going.

Thanks for all the good work. Having kept it going for so long is a great achievement. Hopefully, something can be done to keep the forum open. There is nothing on social media that comes close to a good forum like this one.

I've been a member of this forum for 14 years. It's helped shape so much of my photographic progression that I simply could not imagine where I would be without it. I've met some of the most incredible people through this platform, @Marcel included, and made some fantastic friends. I very much hope that this platform continues!

In any case, I want to extent my heart felt thanks to Marcel, Matt and Brian, as well as all the other admins, mods and people that have helped create and shape this forum over the years, it will be sorely missed! :(

All I can do is echo the comments above , it’s actually a very civilised place to some I have been on and if it does close will be a major loss to u.k photography

I hope we don't loose the TP forum, it is my go to place for photography.
Thanks to @Marcel and all the mods and everyone working behind the scenes.
Best wishes for future.

Thank you, Marcel, for all the hard work you've put in to keep this fantastic site going. I've learned a lot here from a complete novice beginner to an amateur hobbyist and met a lot of virtual friends along the way. It'll be a shame if, one day, I can't find this site anymore. Hope someone or a group can take over ownership of this brilliant site.

This is sad to hear but you have to think about your health first.

If this site does close, and I hope it doesn't, I recently joined a new 'RF Shooters' forum, maybe some of the Canon guys could migrate over to there. :)

Thank you Marcel and all the mods for taking us this far. I was quite emotional reading that message, and realised that, yes, I love TP (and most especially our dark little corner of TPFC). I really, really hope your negotiations succeed and TP can continue.
