Notice There's gon' be some new sheriffs in town

The one outstanding thing re: new owners, I can only hope, is that they (like us all) have a vested interest in maintaining the community spirit that I and surmise many others have come to appreciate about what makes TP "tick".

As mentioned above, no doubt a settling in period and there will be some (subtle?) changes but the 'heart' and ethos of a nurturing and engaging community will remain.

I think it's already been made clear, but we discussed this and our overriding intention is to maintain the ethos and spirit of TP - that's what motivated us to put hands in pockets and apply grist to the mill to set up the vehicle to transition to, so that Marcel can sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labours - when we saw everything he has been doing in detail, it is quite remarkable what he has managed to do.

Nice one Chris- maybe now we'll get people commenting on images and sharing images for critique, as you know its something I like to champion :)
Thanks Les (y)
And indeed that would be part of the plan.
Lets hope it comes off eh? :)

Indeed but also, it doesn't hurt to reiterate our intentions, as I know all to well, from past experiences, some people may skip from the first page to the current last.

Absolutely, I certainly wouldn't have guess the amount of work that it takes to keep a forum of this size running well!

God, just what we need, a snake in charge of the bleedin place!

Welcome New Owners

Great news. I'm sure a sterling job will be done by the new owners. :)
We thought about doing it in Euros but then thought it might open a can of worms - and we already have a snake to deal with...

Are we really all safe in hands grip of the snake?
do we know we aren't already in his grip?

Thanks again to Marcel for all his hard work and dedication to running this place over the years, and very best wishes for the future. (y)

Thanks and best wishes to the new management team for taking over and maintaining somewhere for us all to prattle on about taking photos. :)

Well, if Cobra is Kaa (from Jungle Book), I thought I'd do an online quiz to see which one I might be (hoping for Baloo or Bagheera), and ended up with Shere Khan: beware, it seems I can be ruthless! Maybe I should change my online name and avatar!

My favourite quote is
There is no point in having power if you don't abuse it occasionally :D

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely :(.

Perhaps its just as well there are 3 of us to share the load
:p

Yes, three absolutely corrupt numpties...

He's been resigned to keep an eye on the trouble makers, I bet you can guess who is at the top of his list :p

Hmm..far too many troublemakers to choose from :)

Glad to find out who the new owners are and that things will not change too much.

Nice one and good luck to the new praefectus. (y)

Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Asbo - hang on a minute...

Again I'd like to. say Thank you to @Marcel for all the great work you have done and put in to this best photography forum I have ever been a member of when it comes to forums. Nearly all the members and staff/mods are great and helpful as I have found over the years I have been here and I've got the best help/advice going to and without having to pay for it. In many ways this forum has actually saved my life over the last year or so and members have been totally fantastic in helping me. Where else can a forum go without the help and advice from all members, so bring it on as TP can only get better. As going through the 52 today has really kicked me up the back side as from today now my past stays in the past.

So lets make this great forum even greater

Glad to see the forum will be in good hands.

I’d be happy to post more photos (actually taking photos should hopefully happen as things get a bit more normal after COVID) in the model specific threads, but I was put off posting in the photos forums a while back as its very much critque oriented. Haven’t an issue with that but it really depends on the quality of the critique given. Getting a response like a short reply of ‘I wouldn’t have bothered’ without any idea why they thought that pretty much put me off ever posting in there again! It felt far too clicky if you weren't one of the in crowd. It would be nice to have separate photo sharing and for critque sections to stop users before put off sharing photos.

Clearly comments like ‘I wouldn’t have bothered’ are unacceptable but it has been a generally accepted "rule" that posts in the Photos: ... sections are up for crit, there is also a Prefix of "Critique" for those sections. If the rule is crit. allowed then perhaps that prefix should be "No Critique" or may be the guidance should be changed to say posts only get crit if the poster asks for it either via the Prefix or in a comment. After all if you are relatively new to the forum you won't know the "rule" about crit anyway.

Then again, if you listen to some people the Like button has killed off all commenting so it doesn't matter either way :) but I do wonder what you expect to happen if you post a photo and and say you don't want any comments?

Wonderful news...and again...Thank You Marcel :)
