The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Great shot George, one of the jazz singers I know switched to using one of these.

Thank you Dave, appreciate your reply.

"The very early incarnations of these had a very unique and distinctive response, and as you probably know they're quite often referred to as the "Elvis Mike". This one is a much later model but with a similar looking style and as I'm led to believe (please don't quote me) the innards of these are the same or very similar to a Shure SM58, a still much used & loved type of microphone by vocalist"

Anyone use the 14mm f2.8 ?

I use the 15-45 for wide angle but keep looking at the 14mm !

I'm happy enough with the command dial, but I'm still new to Fuji.
I think its just coz its the only lens I own without one so it sort of grates

Having the aperture on the ring is awesome for street and travel shots when you are trying to be quite quick and its the lens I use most for those

Looking towards Blaenau from Tomen Y Mur last month, when we were being alternately snowed on and baked in the sun!

Very7 nice landscape style Fujigraph Alan, liking receding plains & mono presentation very much.

Any Fuji shooters using tethered mode? I'm looking for advice on how well it works/pitfalls, etc.

My current Fujifilm - an X100T - doesn't support the Fuji X Acquire software, but I could justify buying a used X-E3/X-T2 to keep for tethered shooting (products, indoor) tethered to my Mojave iMac. I don't use Lightroom, so X Acquire seems to be the only other solution. I can tether physically or via the router (as I understand it).

Thanks George, I was going for a somewhat layered feel, when viewed in Lightroom there is a lot more detail visible in the foreground that seems to be just black when viewed on the web.

This snap I did a time or two ago but was never really satisfied with the presentation, so its one I have revisited since changing how I do my PP.

Just a simple tourist type Fujigraph taken at London UK of a scene looking out from the viewing gallery at the Tate Modern.

I've used X Acquire with my X-T2 last summer doing a batch of several hundred hydraulic fittings for work. Set it to import them to folder X and then set lightroom to auto import from folder X. Worked well for me. I used a 3m USB cable to connect laptop and camera.

I think I'd be using one hand for focusing and one on the command dial for setting the aperture, but I usually shoot autofocus. Except with my Takumar manual lens, in which case I'd have set the aperture well beforehand.d

I used to have one. Great little lens that you can throw in a pocket. I only traded mine in to get the 16-55, when I got the H1.

I use Capture One for tethered shooting.

Photography Blog has just got round to reviewing the 27mm f/2.8 MkII

With which camera(s)? Any SNAFUs I should be aware of?
I've used it with X-T3 and X-H1, really easy to set up and use. I have no reason to believe it wouldn't work with the other Fuji's. I have the full Fujio vesrion, but I am not sure if it works with the free one, got to be worth a look.

Can anyone shed light to my query please;

If using Viltrox 85mm lens attached to either XE1/X-Pro1, how might you control/adjust the aperture via these X bodies..?

Cheers;
mac

Interesting - he says there's no live view. Is he right? I understand that live view sends continuous data, so perhaps there's a reason for turning it off...

WOW that 23/2 is sharp.......great capture and timing..!! Love the dialed in contrast......superb.

Thanks Peter. It's my favourite small prime and was almost permanently fixed to my X-E2s when I was in Verona. A great combo for travel. I ran this particular image through SilverFX Pro but its not so far off the in-camera Monochrome+R filter JPEG version

Which would you go for...?

Fuji 23mm f/2 or; Viltrox 23mm f/1.4

mac
Depends what is important to you.

Fuji is smaller and lighter, is weather-resistant (possibly faster focussing) and has closer focussing
Viltrox is faster (possibly better image quality) and cheaper

Since I've already got the Fuji I'm not going to be changing

I'd have to try it again at some point, all i know is that it works fine for what i need. Maybe just give it a go if it works on the free version.
