Been back from Dorset for a week and just finished going through the photos.

Weather wasn't great for the 2 weeks we had, but it was nice to be back out with the camera after what seems like an eternity of lockdowns.

May isn't actually the best time for costal photography in Dorset as the sun rises and sets inland - I much prefer later in the year when you get light across the coast in the first and last hours of daylight.

I mainly went to Portland Bill to try and better some coastal spring flower shots I got a few years ago but was disappointed to see that one of the buildings next to the lighthouse had a load of scaffolding all over it :(

It was also far too windy to try and photograph tiny flowers in any kind of sensible way.

So - I decided to use the stormy weather to my advantage and found a composition of the last sunlight coming across the lighthouse. The stormy water and skies helped me out I think

Looks great. Love the colour palette

Not sure exactly why this forum kills the quality from flickr links but worth looking at on flickr.

Probably something to do with the fact you may have scaling enabled either in browser or windows itself. It looks reasonably OK without any of that.

I really love the colours in this photo. The composition is absolutely bang on except for the obelisk(?) in the centre. It's an important part of the scene, I know, but it distracts the eye a shade.
Rightly, or wrongly, I'd clone that out.

Thanks - I can see what you mean now I have looked again. Not sure if cloning or just darkening down a little would help.
I will have a play around next time I boot up the computer :)

Lovely shot Dave. I spent several years living on Portland and this was my daily walk, never get tired of seeing this coastline or shot.

Thanks - such a beautiful place to live. We normally stay in Corfe Castle so only visit once each time we go down but it never disappoints :)
It is indeed, though each time I go back (4 or 5 times a year) I can see the coastline changing. There have been some large rock ledges that have collapsed in the past year near the Bill. Makes for an interesting vista each visit.
