What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

Went out today to find nesting Fulmars in the cliffs, however, very bright sunlight made conditions difficult. I did find the Fulmar and get some shots.... I am thinking I should return to this location later in the day for more favorable lighting conditions !

A barn owl has been top on my list of wild animals to see (along with an otter) for years now, and I've tried loads of times to find one. Got lucky last week at Ham Wall and saw a barn own fly over us when we were stood looking at the rare River Warbler that appeared and got everyone excited. Got a couple of record shots but tbh I was just over the moon to have seen one. Then on the way back to the car park someone told us it was hunting in the next field, so we stopped and waited. A few mins later I saw it fly out over the field with its prey, and off it went into the distance.

Then we saw it again yesterday evening at Ham Wall, but it was far too late to get a shot (maxed ISO and shutter of about 1/20). I was able to watch it for a minute or so as it made its way up the field. Amazing birds, and won't forget that any time soon.

Another catch up and some amazing shots on here, some birds I’ve never even seen…..thanks so much for sharing them all.

Nothing unusual here, but we had a wonderful day at Abbotsbury Swannery yesterday, apologies for the cuteness overload :)

This one had just hatched.

Not great quality (low light, low shutter and high ISO), but just pleased to record this stand off, between 4 Magpies and our Little Owl mother this evening. - Since she lost the male last month, she has been amazing at bringing up the youngster and standing her ground.

Very lucky to get invited to a private garden in Gwynedd, to see Hawfinches. Had to go into a 'hide' and sit on a very low chair as to not make the birds nervous. Really 400mm lens was too close but very pleased with this photo, even more pleased to be able to get off the chair. These birds are so special that they are all ringed by the BTO and recorded.hawfinch.jpg

One angry Gull!

It definitely looks like it means business Roger but it seemed to know to keep its distance, this was the closest we saw it get.
