I got the one you enquired about the 1545T with the 820TQD head. Everything is very smooth, no creaking, the twist lock is really nice, very grippy. All the materials are 1st grade. It folds down to very neatly and protects the head. It is small but I have something smaller and 50%...

    Gitzo traveller tripods-user opinions

Well you probably know I just got mine, not actually used it in the wild yet but first impressions are good. It seems to have all the important aspect down. Size, weight and build quality. Note that it doesn’t come with a bag, only a strap. Depends how you want to carry it, it might not matter.

Tripod - £400, hit me (not literally)

To be fair, I have never missed my Manfrotto not having a hook. It's not really the kind of photography that I do so it will be fine, I am just being picky. Portraits, cityscapes where it needs to be high enough to get over some barriers. Bag arrived today from WEX, nice quality but should've...

Tripod - £400, hit me (not literally)

I found a replacement hook online but it sticks out, bought a bag from WEX and I'll live with the rubber feet..

Switching from Canon to Fuji - Shall I or Shall I not?

Shot weddings with the Sony since the A73 came out so that is 12 months now and they held up just fine, even the "weather sealing" held up. TBH, if you found the 5D3 fine then the X-T3 will be just fine.

Switching from Canon to Fuji - Shall I or Shall I not?

I have all concurrently a Canon 5DIV, Sony A73 and Fuji X-T1. The Sony A73 is the better camera in more ways than the others over it. None is perfect but the Sony edges it if you are going mirrorless. It is leagues ahead of the X-T1 so if you like the X-T1 then you will love the Sony A73.

Capture One Fuji half price ...

Capture One isn't cheap! it's £20 a month for one that doesn't have a body restriction...never seen that before. It makes it more expensive to run more than 1 body vs Lightroom.

The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

I walked past LCE a couple of weeks back and saw a MF camera, then i realise i am impatient, it is costly to run and also I end up scanning it which defeats the whole point.

The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

I once bought a Sigma 70-200/2.8 for a specific job, a theatre job. Did it about 4 or 5 times? £500 a time. £2500 later, 20% tax, £500 off lens. Traded the lens in later for £330. £1880 profit. Or, don't buy it with money that you don't have. Once spent, consider it gone, when you sell it...

    pocket wizards

they were once upon a time (5 year+) ago were the best. Not anymore, in fact they are a bit hit and miss. Built in ones are much better.

Leather for bags, Brass hardware, that kind of thing. I am very settled with my bags and cases anyway.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I backed on their Kickstarter for their first strap, way before people even heard of them and I applaud their innovation and also customer service. I am just old school in that for the money they are charging, i like old school materials.

I have had a Crumpler bag that I use for weddings for the past 10 years. The bottom of it has been on all kinds of surfaces, rain and dust and even sand on the beach. It's still like new so it has proven it to be durable. What I was going to get is their tech pouch but didn't have long enough...

I know that unless i can save more than £50, it's no point. £12 in parking, £10 for food about £20 in petrol + a day off work.

I much prefer WEX, even though i bought my A7III from Camera World last year. Plus, WEX takes Amex and CW do not, that's a lot of points gone to waste!

Had a quick look at Peak Design. First time that I actually seen one of their bags in person. Couple of things reaffirmed my suspicion. 1 - The fabric they use do feel cheap. They might be engineered to last but I can't help that it feels really cheap. 2 - The opening latch thing is not...

I think a lot of the stands there were just display only. Gitzo ddint' stock anything either and they pointed me to WEX and one other. They gave me the list price of £899 and said they can do 15% off. I knew online price at Amazon is £599 so I went to to WEX armed with this knowledge and page...

Tripod - £400, hit me (not literally)

I saw a few yesterday and I think I could have bought a few that fits the criteria but each have a little bit that I didn’t like from them and tbh the Gitzo isn’t perfect either :- the centre column base should have a hook for a bag and the feet could have been a hybrid spike/rubber, both...
