No, Dynamic Area AF with AF-C, 12 FPS mode. She was too far away to engage subject tracking (box was too large), so I chose Dynamic.

    The virus. PPE

Slovenia here....we just had our first school in the country close its' doors for 14 days and as luck would have it, it was my daughter's school. In self-isolation now...luckily my job and the company's owners understand the need for it.

Hey Stephen, this was actually a test of the new tracking mode, so it was mostly automatic. I set the AF to AF-C, AF area was set to AFA and I initiated tracking with the press of the OK button (you can remap it to any other FN button). I placed the white box over my dog and pressed AF-ON (I use...

Decided to try the new tracking UI. I have to say I'm positively impressed by it. Normally I use dynamic area or Wide-S, but this did perfectly ok. One of the set below: Happy, happy by luftwalk, on Flickr

It'll be interesting to see to what focal length its' F4 aperture extends...I'm sure there will be plenty comparisons to the 24-70/4 when it releases. But let's get the 70-200 out first please :)

    Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless

Thank you all :) All of the photos (except the landscape one -- that one is a view from my balcony) were taken in Bavarian forest in Germany. I had with me the Sigma 60-600mm and the Nikon 200-500mm. I ended up buying the Nikon. The Sigma was a bit softer and the VR is better on the Nikon. At...

I have a 200-500mm to go with my Z6. It's big and heavy but so are all other tele zooms in this range. I have my eye on the 500mm PF as well, but it's pricey. Not sure it would be worth it for me. Another option would be 300mm f2.8 with TCs, but heavy again :) I'll dig up some photos with the...

    Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless

Sorry, but I own a Z6 and the AF on it is way better than it was on my D750. Check my previous posts, most of the latest ones are photos of dogs in notion...if that isn't good enough I'm not sure what would be.

One question....have you experienced any issues with tracking? Some people have reported that when you use AF-C and focus on even a static subject (like a tree) that every other shot is slightly out of focus...

    Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless

I appreciate the input, but I'm an engineer myself and have no issues with switching tools/brands if I find one that works better for me. I did it when I switched from Pentax to Nikon a couple of years ago and I had a lot more lenses in PK mount than I do now for Nikon. I tried the A9, the A7R4...

Thinking of going to Sony? I'll definitely stay at least until the 2nd gen of Zs come out...the Sony strikes me as too much of a soulless system...can't really explain it tbh.

I'm eagerly awaiting tests on the new 70-200. If it's as good as the specs suggest I will most likely replace my trusty 70-200 VR2, once the grey import price comes down a bit :) Meanwhile, another one with my old 70-200. I processed the eyes and dark patches of fur to bring out the features I...

Thanks for all the comments...in regards to WB....the area was very patchy when it came to light...the shady areas were very dark and some of the areas had intense sun...to top it off the grass was still a bit frozen and had sunlight reflecting off of it. Sigma Lens 120-300 F2.8 EX DG OS HSM

Here's my take on the lens....I owned a Sport version for about 2 years of extensive use. The lens itself is great and holds up well quality wise. It's definitely on the heavy side and even though I handheld the lens all the time it's tiresome and takes a toll by the end of the day. I had no...

    Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirrorless

I came from the D750 and now use a Z6....couldn't be happier. I always had nagging issues with the D750 and AF fine tune...but no problems now. Even for tracking, I find the Z6 a vast improvement over the D750...I know that's not been a case for many, but I have a feeling people would like the...

With the Z cameras, Nikon decided that it will try to fill EXIF fields read by other programs (IE Lightroom) so that the initial RAW setting would be as close to possible to a JPG preview in the camera (so if you have set Vivid, it will boost contrast, if you have NR set it will set NR in...
