Thanks Keith, I was very happy just to have the experience. Finding out after that I'd gotten the shots was a bonus. Russ, I found the panning pretty straightforward on these as he was flying in a straight line, fairly large in the frame and gliding in on the wind with very few wingbeats...

Mind blank! Oops... Is there a way to edit the title? I'm not seeing an option on my phone. Edit: sorted it.

Critique Grey Heron at Newgale Beach (more added 22/3)

Being lucky enough that the beach is only a few minutes from home, I went down for a little walk today while it was quiet. Perched myself beside a boulder, near some rock pools where I've seen this Heron and loads of Oystercatcher before. I thought I'd be lucky to spot the Heron at the far end...

    Panic buying !

I've never liked "normal" (cows) milk and drink alternative in coffee and cereal, currently cashew milk is my favourite. Can't find any in stores at the moment, as everyone is panic buying it as it lasts as well as long life. Annoying that all the people who usually trash talk milk alternatives...

What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

These guys were doing laps around the inside of a narrow cove. They seem to be much more prevalent when the weather is bad, and it appears as though they're sheltering on the cliffs but don't seem to like sitting still too long. They didn't seem to mind me looking down on them, but interestingly...

What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

More BIF practice in the wind yesterday. My keeper rate is creeping up, but it's taking a while! It was nearly too windy for it; I had to put my left eye to the viewfinder, rather than my usual right eye, to shelter behind the camera so I wasn't tearing up! Anyway, I got a few shots I liked but...

    Critique Chough in Pembrokeshire

Thanks Gramps, I was pleased with it. We had spotted a pair a few minutes before (I say "we" but it was definitely my girlfriend's sharp eyes) and so I was on the lookout with tons of birds flying about. Then came around the corner and found two Choughs foraging and oblivious to us. Easy as it gets!

    Critique Chough in Pembrokeshire

A Chough from our walk today in Pembrokeshire. We went to see St Govan's Chapel, then down to the Green Bridge of Wales, Elegug Stacks and the Cauldron. Spotted a pair of Choughs, amidst the millions of corvids and gulls. I was glad to get a decent photo; I normally don't realise it's a Chough...

    courier companies name your worst

I ordered a lens hood off Amazon once, to be delivered by Hermes. Twice told it was taken back because "nobody was home" when I was in both days. Asked for redelivery, and next day it was "delivered to a safe place" even though I had been in and nobody knocked. Couldn't find the package...

Critique Red Kite feeding station, Llanddeusant

This one was £4 per person, and then you have one long hide to choose a position in. We were by ourselves for most of it; one other lady showed up and watched for 10 minutes and left. There was also a bit (where we stood most the time) where you could walk out the end of the hide and just stand...

That is fantastic Andy! As above, a nice change to see a bird doing actual bird stuff.

Cheers Dale and Bob :) Funnily enough Dale, today I went back and lifted the exposure on the 1st and 3rd and prefer them both after! Sometimes I get so excited to process images straight away, and go through them all in a session and think they're done. I'm realising that I need to come back...

Critique Red Kite feeding station, Llanddeusant

Thanks Jeff and Andy :) It was a mixed bag of weather; there were a few moments of bright blue sky but a lot of variable cloud as well. I seem to have strange taste in photos... I seem to quite often pick a different favourite to a lot of people. For me the final image wins, for the eye contact...

Critique Red Kite feeding station, Llanddeusant

Thanks Paul. They were very close; the number of shots I deleted because I'd clipped a wing when they turned and spread their wings wide was rediculous! Most the time it was tricky just to pick one bird to focus on or to get one bird in frame alone.

We visited the Red Kite feeding station at Llanddeusant today; what an experience! It was a bit like being in a warzone, never able to relax and no idea where to look. All in good fun and great practice for birds in flight. Also, really cool to see Red Kites at such close range and enjoy their...

A few more that I processed yesterday. I really like the punky hair in the first one; it may be my favourite although I wish it had put it's foot down as the talons look impressive. The second just shows a different angle as it's looking left for a change. Peregrine by Luke Case, on Flickr...

Critique Peregrine again (more added 22/2)

Cheers Andy, I prefer the third as well. I was surprised how much detail came back in the first two; on camera they looked like full silhouettes and I thought they'd have to stay that way. If the weather ever plays ball, I think if I can get an encounter mid morning the lighting will be more...
