    Your Magic Bullet Stories...

The best tip i was ever given when I was running Epson printers 4800, 7800 etc to stop nozzle blocking (as they where spectacular at getting blocked nozzles), was buy a USA company that specialised in fixing them. the solution was to put s small plastic container in the printer near the print...

Always read the requirements for any competition, exhibition etc...

Just a cautionary tale for anyone entering prints or framed images into competition or exhibition. A client has had me print and frame 20 images for exhibition at a venue, to his specifications (and at a not insignificant cost) AR glass and museum board. He delivered them to the venue to be...

Anyone bought a Leica M (any digital model) then sold it? Why?

This is turning into the 50th thread, as I just purchased the Leica SL for my upcoming 50th in October... I have never used any of the film Leica Ms as film is just not for me, the SL for me totaly fits the bill, especially with how it handles the M lenses, the M digital series would have to...

Anyone bought a Leica M (any digital model) then sold it? Why?

I had an M9, which I loved but I really struggled with the rangefinder focusing, I persivered with it for a while but just couldnt nail it, so sold it. I have since (3 weeks ago) bought a used Leica SL and the Leica SL - M adapter, so I can now use the M lenses on the SL, and benifit from focus...

Mount card colours choice(s) to better suit the subject?

Thats the big kicker you do what you want with your photographs, but as soon as you sell them / part with them, you loose all control and all bets are off with what happens to them. One persons decor is another persons meaningful image, asthetics or emotion or both. I have stopped trying to...

Mount card colours choice(s) to better suit the subject?

I print, mount and frame thousands of photos and artwork every year, for various different end uses, customers to hang at home, customers to hang in a gallery, for exhibition, for competitions, for camera clubs etc, you tend to see trends in certain ares but no trends in others, some I have...

    An adventure into framing.

They have a very small amount of adjustment, but if they are well worn, its a machining job to get them back to servicable condition, if the previous overner(s) havent bothered lubricating them they do wear.

    An adventure into framing.

You wont get many people willing to ship them, they are just heavy, they would need to be pallet shipped. If you buy one, check there is not excessive play in the head slides ( vertical and horizontal ), as excessive play will result in bad cuts.

    An adventure into framing.

You can pick a used morso up for around £200-£300, usually with a couple of pairs of blades, just make sure the blades have at least 1/2" of edge on them, that way you will get pleanty of re-grinds out of them.

Leica SL - What lenses do you use with your Leics SL

Having spent some more time with the SL 50 1.4 & SL 24-90, I have decided to use M lenses, they are just more user friendly in the weight department, they have stunning picture quality, but the weight of them is considerable. So im using the Leica M 24mm f/2.8 ASPH, which I find great for walk...

Leica SL - What lenses do you use with your Leics SL

I'm looking for image quality and colour rendition, as ultimatly the images will be for a book and large exhibition prints, I'm really drawn to the SL 50 1.4 and the SL 24-90, but if the quality is there in the Panasonic 24-105 that could free up cash for a nice 24mm f/2.8 M lens, Has anyone...

Just wondering what Lenses everyone is using with their Leica SL, are you using Manual focus or Auto focus, Leica M, SL, S, R, Zeiss, etc. Do you prefer AF or MF lenses. Im personally looking at the 24-90 SL and possibly the 50 1.4 SL, I previously used the Leica M 24 2.8 & M 50 1.4 on my...

    Suggestions for mounting/displaying gloss photos

use AR glass, (Anti-reflective glass), with high gloss prints, the coatings on the glass, will stop reflections from the print (internally) and externally stop them as well. It looks very nice, we sell lots of it, personally i think it works the best on textured matt papers.

Is going from printing A3+ to A2 really a big jump?

Having used both Epson and HP 24" and 44" for commercial printing in my print & framing shop, I would keep well clear of Epson as they just waste so much ink, the HP on the other hand is fantastic in 3 years of heavy use ( in my printing & framing shop ) its never had a blocked nozzle or had any...

    Image Print..........is it worth $1000

Imageprint is fantastic, i used it for about 8 years, mostly for exhibition prints etc. I currently use Shiraz Server with my HP Z3200, very good. With imageprint its possible to buy an old version (of flea bay etc) and upgrade it with image print, sometimes it works out cheaper than buying a...

    Water droplets inside the lens

Dont heat it up before you take it outside, perfect conditions for dew forming on a lens, take the lens outside a few hours before you use it if possible, and let it settle at the ambiant air temperature, if you still get dew forming, you need to keep the area around the lens elements a few...

    Water droplets inside the lens

It could be condensation, Astro photographers and astronomers use a heated band around the telescope called a dew heater to stop this situation occurring.
