    Autumn colour in the forest

Thanks and yes I did for the last one. I believe I had the camera on it's 'macro' mode for #2. I used aperture-priority for many other pictures during that day though including for #3 and #4 I believe. Thank you for all of your feedback, I really appreciate it and I'm still rather new to...

    Autumn colour in the forest

Went for a walk in a forest not far from home, hoping to get some Autumn colour captures. Was quite happy with the outcome :)

    Yellow rose

Our yellow rose we planted Spring this year. It took ages to finally start flowering but in the last few weeks it's been racing to get them out before Autumn/Winter kicks in.

Was very happy today as I finally managed to get a rather nice shot of one of the robin's visiting our garden.

    Birds in your garden

I'd also say that looks like a juvenile blackbird. Some today I captured on the bird bath.

We picked up one of these Kangaroo Paw plants from The Eden Project. It seems to be doing well and some small flowers are now shooting.

    Birds in your garden

Seeing all these amazing close up pictures in such beautiful quality makes me really envious and a bit sad that I'm very limited with my kit lens right now. The regular female blackbird was back again today and I managed to get a few shots of her feeding on the bird table.

    Birds in your garden

Bit of an amateur here. Managed to get a picture of a female Blackbird that is a regular visitor and I believe nests in our garden. Female Blackbird by Sean Pearman, on Flickr

Beginner Good lens for Bird Photography

That's a very nice picture of a starling :) I have a feeding station which attracts a lot of them, particularly the smaller birds, and of course the odd pigeon :D We have a couple of regular robin's visit as well, and often they sit on the fence, and that's something I'd love to get a close up...

Beginner Good lens for Bird Photography

Cheers for the advice (y) I spend rather a lot of time in our pretty decent sized back garden and the last few months I've developed quite a large interest in gardening itself, and I put that mostly on the fact I got my DSLR to begin with, as I have enjoyed getting up close macro shots of...

Beginner Good lens for Bird Photography

It was the AF-P one that I was looking at. Currently around £300 on Amazon. Thanks for all of the suggestions and information so far. I'm quite new to DSLR photography really so enjoy learning all I can, and at the moment in terms of lenses I find it a bit confusing looking at the many...

Beginner Good lens for Bird Photography

I’ve had my Nikon D3500 with its includes kit lens for a few months now and have thoroughly enjoyed using it. I’ve developed a bit of an interest in capturing pictures of the birds, particularly around the garden and while the lens I have does a reasonable job I’d really like to be able to...

    Beginner Eden Project

Recently had a holiday in Cornwall, and one of the days went to the Eden Project. Thought I'd share some of the (many) pictures I took that day. Some plants:

    Beginner Black Bird getting brave

This black bird decided to be rather brave today and constantly kept coming close, and even stole some of my lunch. This was a few feet away from me, using the standard kit lens with the Nikon D3500.

    Beginner Starling having a feed

My first and so far only shot at capturing a bird having a feed. I really need a different lens for this to be honest. This is with the Nikon D3500 kit lens (18-55mm).

Beginner In the garden with my new camera

The sun gradually going down this evening. I thought I'd have a go at capturing it in the background. I also tried very hard to capture this bee which would not sit still for a second. Didn't think it turned out to bad considering this, but are there any obvious things I'm missing that I...

Beginner In the garden with my new camera

Had a bit of a play with 'selective colouring' in Lightroom on one of my pictures. I feel like a lot won't like it much here but I think it turned out okay, and so thought I'd share :)

Beginner In the garden with my new camera

I actually do love taking landscape pictures, and have taken a lot but just not so many with a DSLR camera. As I've only had this camera for a few days, I've yet to get the chance to go anywhere and get some nice landscape shots, but hopefully if the weather brightens up again next week I aim to :)

    East Anglia Norfolk landscapes?

Thanks for the suggestions :) I'm definitely going to have a look at some of them. Thetford forest is a place I have driven through/near plenty of times but I'm never sure where abouts is best to go for the views, like the ones on this page...
