Beginner Finally after years joined the game, some help with next decisions please

I'd definitely add a 35mm 1.8, it does actually have an ability to 'zoom' in and out to a certain extent via the use of legs. I have an array of glass but go with a just 35mm on a crop body for my hols and make it work. Also a cheap tamron or sigma 70-300 is a decent idea, try to think about...

    Lancaster Bomber Pic Virgin

Hi, I'm planning to go and get shots of the above flying over the local dam/reservoir next week but I am a bit green re pics of propeller aircraft. Can anyone recommend settings/method to capture the motion of the propellers etc?..... as there will be little/no time for trial and error. Thank you

Adding even border to 3:2 image to upscale to A0/1/2

Sorry, this must have been asked before. I'm struggling to find an effective way to add a white border to a 3:2 ratio image to make it up to a A0/1/2 size- the plan is to get a few posters printed. I don't want to crop any of the image due to the content and I am aware the border won't be...

Advice: Images off camera onto phone on the move

Hi, I am sure this has probably been asked before so apologies for going over old ground if so..... Whats the best/most cost effective to get files off my D4s onto an android mobile on the move?

    Card Reader Recommenadations CF+XQD

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a decent card reader. My CF reader has been playing up and was only pence really so am looking to replace, however stupidly I now also have a body that takes XQD cards and it transpires it's a pain in the backside to get the images off them via...

Nikon D4s White Balance- Quick Advice

These two. For me the first one is what I saw for 70% of the shots and the second one is it going a bit more yellow.

Nikon D4s White Balance- Quick Advice

Yes I have always taken the same approach, I found it weird though that this camera got it wrong in fairly basic conditions- its almost like it over thought it.

Nikon D4s White Balance- Quick Advice

Took my new(to me) D4s out for a spin yesterday just shooting some sport in overcast/rainy conditions. Obviously still getting to grips with it but I shot in auto white balance as I did with the old D3 and despite the extremely samey lighting over the period of about an hour some images were a...

    Stolen Thread?

Seems to be legit. Rang them, they buy and sell camera gear, this doesn't have the box or the nikon charger hence its a bit cheaper. They've also had it checked when they purchased it just incase and they're sending said certificate onto me.

    Stolen Thread?

It seems to be an IT business seller so I can half understand as to how they might end up with it to sell without bits. I've asked for proper photos and they obliged, I've now asked for the serial number/a shot of the base of the camera and yet I am to have to response. It's on ebay, it's...

    Cheap Equipment / Grey Imports?

Bought my last body from Panamoz, never had an issue with it- when I thought I had they were very receptive and helpful to to me re their warranty. Save yourself some money.

    Stolen Thread?

Hi everyone, am in the market for a new body and I have found a potential purchase but its a 'little' cheaper than expected, it doesn't come with a box or the original charger..... Might it be hot? Didn't there used to be a thread to check?

Nikon Users: Focus accuracy technical question D800/E

This is what I presumed was the case. I just thought though even at a fast shutter speed re: the dog shots it wouldn't cause an issue.

Nikon Users: Focus accuracy technical question D800/E

That would be about right re my observations, again the 700 is the older body- yes less mp but still. I found that with the dog shot the 800 would lock on but in a 'burst' (bearing in mind its 4ps) it'd lose it easily or the end result would appeared a little blurred.

Nikon Users: Focus accuracy technical question D800/E

Hi Mike, Yes I have, I had a wobble with the camera a couple of years ago stemming from a similar incident and did various tests and it was fine. The D800e in the right conditions with the 24-70 is pin sharp and excellent, but it just seems to be a bit of a diva/sh*t in certain circumstances-...

Nikon Users: Focus accuracy technical question D800/E

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this subject, apologies if this has been covered before. I primarily shoot with 2 cameras at weddings, a D800e and a D3- in low light situations when flash isn't appropriate I tend to have both cameras on very similar settings around the 1/125th...

Second hand nikon FX: D3 vs D600 or a DX?

D3 or D700 for me, both genuine pro bodies whereas the D600 is a fx sensor in a prosumer body imo. My first FX body was a D3 and I still use it now and its AF is brilliant it never fails me.

    Setting up a home office

I currently split the work between an office (laptop plumbed into a big monitor) and the sofa (my lap!)- I tend to do the picking in the front room which works for me and enables me to be a little more social and then for the edit I am back in the office. I think for me when I need to be 100%...

I'm not arguing the toss physics wise by the way, is it simply a case of what the sensor can see/expose?

    Fill Flash with a 70-200 question/tips please

I don't quite get the 'physics' element though Phil- surely despite light coming at the lens it shouldn't directly affect light falling on the subject the other way?

    Fill Flash with a 70-200 question/tips please

I've no doubt it's me trying to do something and get it a*se about t*t. I'm just primarily probably getting a mixture of H&S and full length shots and just wanting the subjects to pop a little more against the surrounds. I'm quite confident now thinking about it that the distance is playing a...

    Fill Flash with a 70-200 question/tips please

Ha, yes that would be why. I meant to sort of say I rarely have my subject that far away from me in order for it to require me going beyond 100mm focal length but it came out wrong. Re the choice of lens its just my second body set-up primarily where time is of the essence and the oppportunity...

    Fill Flash with a 70-200 question/tips please

Hi Gaz, yes its on camera and I do very often use the flash compensation button in other scenarios its just that more often than not I am using the D3 with the 70-200 and unless its my turn to be dumb the D3 doesnt have that feature.

    Fill Flash with a 70-200 question/tips please

I had considered that. I am rarely beyond 100mm to be honest- what sort of range is possible?..... would 10 metres be workable, I can't say that I'm ever really any further back.
