OK, thanks. Obviously it would be better with full size image

deja vu the puffin shot re-worked as requested

Personally I'd prefer the 2nd rendition if the PP was done differently. I tried on the image that was posted and used a different approach. Using PS CC2018 I duplicated the layer and did a quick selection of the background which I then converted to a mask. You can now select the white blobs and...

    Black-necked Grebe

Mike, thank you very much for the detailed explanation. From what was said by kodiak qc I was hoping for something new but that wasn't to be. I'm ok with curves and use them in my PPing already. As to editing my images I'm happy for them to be used if it's for the purpose of explaining...

    Black-necked Grebe

One last try, I'm trying to learn. Could you please explain how you do 'tonal taming' I'm sure I can work out how to do it in PS if you explain exactly what you do in C1 or Affinity. Thank you.

    Black-necked Grebe

Thanks, could you please explain what you mean by tonal taming? I see lots of feather detail on both of my calibrated monitors.

    Black-necked Grebe

Thanks Mike. I've found that if I upload to Flickr at one of it's native sizes, eg 1600pix, then it doesn't change it a great deal. I already do 2 different sizes so I'll have to put up with it.

    Black-necked Grebe

Thank you all for looking and commenting. As to the halo, it's one of the reasons I rarely post images on here as the site always messes about with my images when I upload them. Is there a way to keep the original file size without it being resized. My images are 1200x800 pixels and all...

    Kingfisher

Thank you Gil. I took these at 06:15 but they generally show all the time. There are two hides, Marsh and Lake, and they are seen at both hides. No entrance fee as it's part of YWT, but there is a donations box near to the Marsh Hide. If you want any other information then please ask or send...

    Wild Low light little owl

Two excellent shots Den. I much prefer the owl in the 2nd shot, better pose and good light through the wings. The background is far better in the 1st shot IMO as the grass heads and the white spots above and below the owls left wing in the 2nd shot are very distracting to me.

    Juvenile Female Kingfisher

Some more shots of a Kingfisher from early this morning. Again the light was poor and I had to raise the iso to 1600 but at least it came fairly close.
