But there's no glass in a tube... Less to get dirty, less to spoil that wonderful 90mm goodness ;)

It was a bit of a flippant comment Keith, I just noticed that the CF distance was too far away to be really useful when shooting bugs & stuff. Stick some tubes on and it's great!! ;)

Blimey, it must be bad.... The one thing I find that lets the 90 down is the close focus distance, I usually end up putting both tubes on to get close with the 90mm.......

Has anybody gone back to their DSLR?

I used to run a 6D & 7D2 with a number of L lenses plus a Sigma 150-600 Sport for wildlife. I now have a pair of X-T2's and a range of their lenses (which are excellent by the way). I love using the X-T bodies, they remind me of my old film bodies in how they feel. The output is excellent...

Really? I have two of them, and other than a screen failure that Fuji sorted in 2 days, not had an issue with them. I've had at least one T2 from the week they were released in the UK.

    Dash Cam video

I have done a bit of in car GoPro stuff. I have a mount on the top of my dash, or I use a suction cup on the sunroof and have it between driver & passenger (GoPro allows you to film with the camera upside down). I also have mounts on my front & rear towing brackets for lower down stuff. Wind...

Critique So I am a little bit obsessed with Buachaille Etive Mor

Why do I want to see a reflection of the building in that 2nd shot? If I could get one image on a par with the stuff you produce Steve I would be a very happy man.......

    Chaffinch at Langford Lakes

It is indeed, haven't been that close to a Chaffinch in a long time. It's probably about 1/3 of the frame.

    Harvard at Compton Abbas

All I can say Bob is that it looks like a Harvard, and that's what they called it, so I was happy with that! My knowledge of WW2 aircraft isn't bad as my Dad flew Halifax's & Wellingtons during the war, but I'm not hot on US planes, other than the obvious stuff.

Care to elaborate on the settings? I was in a hide so although the camera was technically "handheld", I was supported. I always shoot with the lens wide open so if you have seen better from me, only the light would have been better.

    Chaffinch at Langford Lakes

All the water birds were playing hide & seek today, or were right across the lake. We did catch a glimpse of a Kingfisher though, as it sped by. So we thought we'd watch the perching birds for a while in one of the hides and I got a few half decent shots. Shot on my X-T2, 100-400 + 1.4TC wide...

I still have withdrawal symptoms from letting mine go. Again it didn't come out very often, but was a joy to use. Not just as a wide angle, but its close focusing properties and wide aperture makes it so versatile.

Use of mobile phones in cars

I can't see how using hands free is any more dangerous than talking to a passenger. In fact, drivers often turn away to look at the person next to them while in conversation..... When I answer a call in the car I always make a point of telling whoever is on the other end that I'm "hands free...

    Birds in your garden

We moved into our new place 2 weeks ago today. The feeders have been up for just a week and I've been really pleased with our visitors so far. We have a load of Sparrows roosting in the hedges around the garden, so they found the feeders pretty quickly, along with a few Dunnock, followed by...
