Has anyone passed their driving test recently?

Passed my test two years ago, so nearly recent? Handbrake - If you've just missed the lights and you'll be waiting for awhile I was always told to apply the handbrake (even done this in the test a few times) Hillstarts - Didn't use the handbrake, as the car had hill assist. Always ready to...

    "Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Having a quick read, it seems the GM5 got an uprated shutter and can do 1/500th with mech. I've spent the last few minutes trying to find an example of the banding but can't seem to find them. I remember I couldn't shoot in my kitchen because of the lighting. If I had a good manual lens like...

My GM1 was quite bad for banding, it was first generation silent shutter technology so comparable read out time to the G6/GX7 so rolling shutter was bad as well. Mechanical shutter only works up to 125th of a second. A few more points ; the mech shutter won't work with manual lenses (unless...

I think I was the person who sold that 20mm to you years ago! Decided to go for the Sigma 30mm 1.4. If I'm only buying one prime, it might as well be something special. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 & Mark 2 Owners Thread

Great replies everyone. I should mention that I had the 17mm as well for a short period and never enjoyed the focal length (Notice a theme of wider primes and disappointment? I never learn). I guess it comes down to ; size - Oly 25mm, price - Pana 25mm 1.7 or performance - Sigma 30mm 1.4. I'll...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 & Mark 2 Owners Thread

I was just watching that video before I posted, I haven't been keeping up to date with the camera market and just assumed the Sigma 30mm 1.4 would be expensive but I see one on MPB for £214, which isn't far off the Oly 25mm price. That is really tempting.

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 & Mark 2 Owners Thread

I recently returned back to M43 after years of just using a Sony RX100. I've got enough coverage from zooms but I'm looking for that one prime as the generic 'standard prime'. I used M43 from back in the Panasonic g3 era, so I've had both the 20mm 1.7 and the PanaLeica 25mm. The 20mm 1.7 is...

    Walkabout lens for Panasonic GX80

Another vote for the 14-140. Probably the best superzoom lens around, especially for the money. I sold mine for the 12-32 and 45-150 and I regretted it at the time. The only negative I found was the weight when paired with a smaller m43 body. From what i've read online, the version ii (aperture...

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

I found the auto focus on the FZ330 to be very good. Equally as good as the Panasonic G7 in continuous. They'll never win an award but I was surprised when it tracked wasps in flight. It also tracked my puppy when running.

No matter what budget it's trying to reach, I can't understand why this would have a field sequential EVF? Panasonic must be the only company still trying to use them. It was already dated technology when I bought my brand new Panasonic G5 years ago.

Hmm I've got this issue as well, exact same situation as OP mentions. Using Chrome, Win10, only add-on is ABP and using the Night skin.

I made a mistake and moved away from my Panasonics for a few months. After my 2nd m43 camera in a year decided to stop working I decided to try a Fuji set up. There's no negatives about the Fuji from me but I never felt comfortable with it. So I'm sheepishly coming back to Panasonic. I had my...

    Beginner Pansonic GF7 vs rx100 m3/m4

I never liked my GM1 (smaller version of the GF) as a carry everyday camera, even with the 12-32mm lens. The smaller M43 bodies are great to have with a prime when you've got a large zoom on another m43 body. The RX range was just easier to have as an everyday camera. It really depends on what...

You could look at the Mitakon 25mm 0.95, if you risk it you could get it for £260 from HK. I was in the same situation as you last week, I decided the Panasonic 25mm 1.4 was the best option for ease and price. I felt the Sigma would only get taken out on rare occasions due to the size (roughly...

Oddly enough, I've found this as well. It doesn't matter if I put on large zooms or tiny pancake lenses, the body sits at a weird angle in my hand and eventually hurts. It's a shame, considering the older G series' cameras were really comfortable.

Video on Slr's..is it really needed

I'm happy to be corrected here, but doesn't it benefit stills users if companies are pushing for better, faster memory and sensor production to handle video (and in turn stills buffering) and the need to improve jpeg engines/colour production (again useful for stills (...in before "I only shoot...

I noticed recently my images have been looking weird in Lightroom (5.7). I noticed my defaults have all changed once I import the raw file - No sharpening, no noise reduction. Even weirder my "as shot" white balance is completely off, it's giving a very strong green cast. I've tried changing the...

Same sensor, but tweaked a little for things like 4k, write times and speed. The g5/6 sensor is from an older era (the G6 was from the GH2). All i could find about the processing difference between the Gx7 and G7 were from Panasonic saying "the best image quality we've made", so that's err...

Oddly enough, I had use of all 3 over the past few weeks. The G5 is showing it's age now, the EVF is very poor by todays standards - shows tearing, pushed blacks, lag, very small mag., I'd say it's not much difference from the G1, or it feels like it's from that era. The G6 EVF is lovely, the G7...

The only restriction I've found (and i'm happy to be corrected) is a minimum shutter speed, which I think is 1/2 of a second so it should be perfectly fine for star trail but you have to choose the shutter speed in the dedicated live comp. screen, not the usual liveview screen. On the live view...

Just bought a refurb'd G7 with 14-42 mk2 for £350 from Panasonics eBay store, there's two left at the moment. I missed the double cashback deal, which I think equalled that price. My old G6 has been my favourite camera I've ever bought and the longest I've ever had a camera, the only two issues...

    Olympus 9-18mm - 4/3 with adapter vs m4/3 lens?

I was in the same boat, I held off buying either of them for about 4 months until I seen WEX selling a 2nd hand m4/3 version for £260. I do prefer the smaller size, especially for my smaller m4/3 bodies. I'd hang on and see if a good deal pops up.

What about a speed booster adapter? With the Fuji you would be very close to FF field of view. Generic ones go for about £60 these days.

Panasonic LUMIX GM1, anyone using one?

It's pretty good. Out with the higher bit rate 1080 cameras (GH3, RX100 mkii, etc) it's the best 1080 you can find, imo. Very comparable to the G6. You're stuck with 24 or 30p, though.

Panasonic LUMIX GM1, anyone using one?

I know it's a cliche when it comes to buying cameras, but this camera really has to be seen before a purchase. I'm completely fine with small cameras as I have smaller hands, but once I got home from Jessops I was a little taken a back at the size - It's noticeably smaller than any point and...

Panasonic LUMIX GM1, anyone using one?

The 12-32mm is the best standard kit lens for m4/3. I sold the equally praised 14-42 mk11 for it and they're both very sharp, fast focusing and quiet. The reason I rate it higher is simply down to the size. The only negative being there's no manual focus ring, so you have to use the touch screen...

    Beginner Upgrade from Panasonic GF1

I picked up a GM1 with 12-32mm from Jessops yesterday for £250. If you're happy with no viewfinder and not many physical controls, it's fantastic. Even with the small size and lack of buttons, it's much more intuitive than the lower end Olympus Pens, imo. The GM1 also has the latest 16mp...

Minolta Lenses for Portraits and Street Photography

A-mount? I always found the 50mm 1.4 way too soft wide open, like grease was smudged on the front element. At the same apertures, the 50mm 1.7 was just as sharp and cheaper. If we're talking about APS-C A-mount. there's a few other options like the Sony 35mm 1.8 dt and the Sony 50mm 1.8 dt, I...
