Which editing software for GoPro footage.

I'm sure this has been asked 100s of times before, but hey questions keep the forum busy don't they? I'm very much a stills man only using an old GoPro for incar really footage a few times a year. With that I use Windows movie maker to cut to length and make it ready for you tube. With a big...

Third go at Rugby - Got to keep trying

Thanks for the comments. I only put 6 in because it made me laugh. I didn't consider it to be a particularly powerful image. As for my comment about the light being flat, what I meant was that on a day like that when it is flat and dull and getting late on where it would only get worse, for...

Third go at Rugby - Got to keep trying

I found another free Saturday afternoon and the 1st team were playing at home, so I thought I'd give it another go. The light was very flat, so challenging from an ISO perspective. It's good to push myself though, as generally I wouldn't have taken the camera out in those conditions. Hopefully...

Second go at Rugby - happy to hear your thoughts

Thank you for the comments. I love learning this stuff and receiving comments from those of you who do it more often than I means a lot. I have no excuses from an equipment perspective, now it's all about me progressing.

Second go at Rugby - happy to hear your thoughts

Thanks for the comments. The off balance crops are usually a sign that there is someone just out of shot and I didn't think the image could take any more as it would look wrong. The one you said was good, but could have been excellent there is another guy just to the left and with a bigger...

Second go at Rugby - happy to hear your thoughts

So last weekend I nipped back to my local Rugby club. It's only about 300 yards up the road, so no great drama - as long as the time is available of course. The weather had been horrendous during the morning, but cleared up a bit in the afternoon. Even so, with the shorter days I was really...

    First go at Rugby

To answer your question brizrob, I was generally shooting wide open. Thanks for your comments. I have taken them on-board. That's not to say I won't repeat all the errors many times over, but you live and learn. The weather and light is foul today, but they are playing at home again and I...

    First go at Rugby

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Funnily enough my usual style is more portrait orientated, so I would have been cropping closer. However I obviously went the other way with these. Hoping to get back up there this weekend, but will see how things pan out and make a few changes.

    Ice Hockey net action

Great clear images with loads of action. I like them. On another note if you find five minutes I'd really value your opinion on the rugby images I posted in this section. I've tried to PM you but it won't go through. I'm guessing you have that feature switched off.

    First go at Rugby

Thanks for the kind comments. I was spoilt with the weather for most of the game fortunately, so that helped. I may well nip up there again this weekend and have another go. Will see how things go.

    First go at Rugby

Not strictly true, because I had a go at it for one match 3 or 4 years ago, but my first go with the 1dx2 and 200-400. These are both pretty new to me and I haven't had much opportunity to give them a good run out. Anyway, I had a free afternoon and fancied trying sport with the combo. Both my...

A little help with my bird photography please - a few images too

I know what you mean ref location. I struggle because it's so close and time is so short - with young ish kids, its too easy for me to nip along for an hour or so. I'll try to move around a bit while shooting and think of other places to shoot too.

A little help with my bird photography please - a few images too

I haven't tried CW metering before. I normally leave it in EW. Then I find that darker subjects are ok other than in the sky, when they are under exposed. I will certainly give your suggestions a try though.

A little help with my bird photography please - a few images too

When you say exposure compensate to suit, would you care to explain a little more how you do it please? My assumption is that people must adjust shot to shot if the bird moves from sky to grassy backgrounds? Or do you over expose slightly for the sky and know you will need to take it down a...

A little help with my bird photography please - a few images too

That blade of grass is no longer there. Luckily they gave the tufts in front of the pond a trim the other day. Good thought ref the metering zone. Not something I have tried before. Will give it a go.

A little help with my bird photography please - a few images too

I'm hoping it's ok to post this in here. I've done it because it's specifically linked to bird photography. I've added a few images too. First a bit of background info. I'm a Canon shooter and have been for a number of years. I'm in a fortunate position in a couple of ways. I have been able to...

I have a good few head shots of varying styles. They fly two of these at the end of one of the demonstrations ever day. They let them go from a couple of miles away, let them do their thing for a bit, then back they come. When they are back on the fist they bring one to the front for people to...

Yes it is. A great place. I remember it when it was a zoo when I was a kid. They have three flying demonstrations a day and get the birds - vultures especially, very close to you.

I only live a couple of miles away and am a member. I don't visit as often as I should, but always enjoy myself when I do. As they are a charity, I donate pictures to them from time to time. One of mine adorns their van. When I retire (early I hope), it's somewhere I would like to work at on a...
