    Oulton Park Gold Cup 2019

Here's a few photos from the weekend. To be frank, the high temperatures put me off standing around in the open quite as much as I would normally do.

    Steam train advance information

I wondered if there might be something like that going on, I was trying to phrase the initial post in a way that wasn't just a demanding "why is this excellent free service not as good as it was". Of course, many other things can take priority over keeping such things up to date.

    Steam train advance information

Yes, that's been my problem for quite a few of the local trains this year, no updates for times. I seem to recall earlier on in the year, the times did appear, but not until a couple of days after the train had run, and they weren't Scotsman-hauled so none of the embargo-related stuff.

Excellent, thanks for that @michael23. Looks very good.

    Steam train advance information

What are people using to find advance information about when the various steam-hauled specials are around? I've been using uksteam.info for several years, but the site is showing a last update of March, so it seems that the person looking after it has stopped for whatever reason, hopefully...

    L.M.S Princess Elizabeth

I wish I'd known that was going, I'd have gone somewhere to have a look. I don't get enough opportunities to shoot without overhead wiring. I've got out of the habit of checking uksteam.info, the last few specials in my area didn't have any timing information until after the event.

    CSCC Oulton Park, May 2019

A decent enough day at Oulton if a little dull, at least the showers stayed away. I mainly went to see the Transpeed Firenza racing for the first time in 12 years after a refurb, so I was really concentrating on that race. web_IMGP2916 by Mike Edwards, on Flickr web_IMGP2972 by Mike Edwards...

Yes, I agree, they do add to the images, particularly the second one.

Some great images. I was there too.

    Rainy Afternoon in Crewe

I wish I'd realised that steamer was around, I've not been doing very well for catching steam this year as my usual source of timings hasn't been showing any detail until after the day.

    Oulton Park British GTs, 2019

It wasn't so much the reflections of the fence as some of the bright colours and fluorescent bits on some of the cars. I had a lot of trouble with the bands across the top of the windscreen on some cars, and I've seen echoes of it to a lesser extent in some other images from the same day. I...

Some great shots there, always good to see other viewpoints from this side of the fencing.

GTs are at Donington later in the year, too.

    Oulton Park British GTs, 2019

Thanks for the critique. I wondered about cropping, but I didn't want to lose too much of the space around them. I saw a few extra bits of fencing around, though I don't think any of it was where I was standing. I did move a little further down the bank at Lodge, but the wire netting effect is...

    Oulton Park British GTs, 2019

A lovely day at Oulton Park on Monday, certainly much nicer weather-wise than last year when it just threw it down all day. I had some focus issues at Lodge as I'm trying to focus through the wire netting at an angle, while also trying to not catch the rescue van in the background. As...

Some very good stuff there. Is that with trackside access, or with the rest of us?

What was the last gig you went to?

Most recent was The Stranglers at Manchester Apollo last Saturday night. A cracking gig, with Dr Feelgood as support act / special guest. Last night of the tour, unfortunately, otherwise I'd go to another.

    Famous people shots

And once again I didn't get around to it. First off, the support act from last night in Manchester - Dr Feelgood. A good set, I have no historical knowledge of them other than the stuff that Wilko Johnson was doing a few years ago, and the couple of songs I've seen on "... at the BBC", so it...

Wales Red Kite locations in Wales

I also visited Gigrin Farm in 2017, and also visited the Elan Valley and had a look around the reservoir there. I didn't really understand until I got there how Gigrin worked - I thought we were just going to a place where Red Kites assemble and feed, in fact it's an organised "feeding frenzy"...

Pre '66 Touring Cars & Pre '83 Group 1 Touring Cars at Oulton Park

Some good stuff there. I was intending to go as I'd been told there would be three Vauxhall Firenzas racing, unfortunately a couple of days before I saw a message saying that one had been withdrawn for engine trouble, and the other two had not been entered. I'm booked in there for the British GT...

What was the last gig you went to?

Great photos Graham, is that with "proper" access or are they audience shots? My last gig was The Stranglers at Manchester Apollo back in March, and I'm already looking forward to seeing them in the same place next March. Unfortunately they've dropped the Liverpool gig next year, which I...

Critique Along Cambrian Lines, Berwyn 2018

I've had a play with the exposure value on one of the images, and it does look better than the earlier version. I will have to look at this more closely in future. proc2_IMGP1976. by Mike Edwards, on Flickr

Critique Along Cambrian Lines, Berwyn 2018

Thanks, I'll have a play with that. It was quite a dark afternoon, but perhaps not quite as dark as they look. I'm using RawTherapee, but I'm on quite an old version because I built the machine in 32-bit and they're not updating that version any more. I'll have a go and see what I can do.

Critique Along Cambrian Lines, Berwyn 2018

I popped down to the Llangollen Railway yesterday. When I left home it was quite nice weather, but it got darker and wetter by the time I got there. As there's also a food festival going on, I opted to go straight to Berwyn and see what came past. 1. proc_IMGP1934. by Mike Edwards, on Flickr...

    Cruise Ships

The Oriana image is my favourite, I think it works really well. The one of Azura would be better for me from a slightly lower viewpoint, to lose the jetty running along the front. The shore detail is nice and could probably cover that bit up, though it might take too much of the ship out. I've...

VSCC Loton Park 8th Sept 2018

Loton Park is really relaxed, and a very nice setting. I haven't been to many, just Loton, Shelsley Walsh once and Prescott a couple of times. There's a VSCC event on at Prescott at the end of September.

    The Duchess, in Crimson Lake

I like the third shot. For some reason it looks like a large-scale model in a garden railway in that image, or is it just me? I did see Galatea last week, unfortunately the sun came out from behind the clouds just as it arrived, which meant I had to do a quick reposition and was left in a place...

VSCC Loton Park 8th Sept 2018

Cheers. Yes, they're all from the public areas, I don't have any media credentials. Those are from the outside at the top corner, I think it's called "Museum". Due to weather there weren't a lot of people there so that wasn't a problem, in fact I had more trouble with some tall grass getting in...
