Thanks Dave, really appreciate an experienced opinion from someone that has used them. I will use the extra cash on other gear.

    Upgrade Dilemma - D750 or D810

Don't give me any more options, lol.... Seriously though i have looked at Sony, as they A7 iii is not a bad price but its the hassle involved in selling everything and switching to a new system, the learning curve. I know i could get an adapter and use my Nikon glass, but have read mixed reviews...

    Upgrade Dilemma - D750 or D810

I know, I know this question must have been asked a thousand times but these are my 2 options and i just cannot decide. I currently have a D600, so looking to pair one of the above with it. I'm a family man and shoot lots of portraits of the kids, days out etc. My daughter is a dancer and i...

Weekend adventures with the 50mm 1.4

I wondered where you had gone a while ago, you used posted some great stuff on a 135 if I remember? Anyway, these are great love em all, especially 1 & 3. The fifty just gives that background more compression than the 35 I find but love both focal lengths.

A few questions ..... VR and shutter speed

Thanks for your reply, sound words. I mainly switched between f/2.8 and f/4 as i haven't used this lens a great deal and i'm still testing the difference in sharpness between the 2 apertures. I think i will try some slower shutter speeds next time, just so the iso doesn't keep getting pushed...

A few questions ..... VR and shutter speed

Moving to the VR2 model is not for the extra stop of vr, its purely for better optics, nano coating and less vignetting. The improved VR is just a bonus.

A few questions ..... VR and shutter speed

I can't seem to find a great deal of information on this and would like to hear peoples opinions or experiences. I was recently photographing my son and his friend playing football at the park on a nice sunny evening. I was using a D600 with the Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR1 (hoping to upgrade to VR2...

    NSFW Photoshoppery: vaguely NSFW

Its still good experience to retouch to that level though, and looks great when viewed at high resolutions. I've found using helper layers really useful, in particular black and whites ones for dodging and burning.

    NSFW Photoshoppery: vaguely NSFW

Hey, you don't need to feel embarrassed about editing time, i've lost hours on images trying things out and i'm not the quickest with the pen tool either, i need to use it more often to build up speed. My problem (apart from lack of time) is that i haven't developed a proper workflow that i'm...

They look pretty good to me and not over cooked as you put it, very nicely done in fact for what you are trying to achieve. You have to expect a more polished look when you go for the higher end retouched look. I suffer the same problem as you, in that i think i've gone too far sometimes, when...

    First Magazine Cover

Really pleased for you mate, well done. Must be a great feeling. Hope the 70-200 is a cheap fix for ya, I dread any of my lenses going wrong.

    Daughter white wall shot .....

Thank you. Yes, something a bit different. I love the red lipstick, think it really makes the image pop against white We actually have a similar picture of my daughter taken by the outrageously expensive venture when she was like 5 or something. The old one is black and was a snap not posed...

    Daughter white wall shot .....

Space was very limited, in that there was none, so moving away from the wall was not an option unfortuntely, although i quite like the shadow as it creates a bit of separation. The neckline bothers me too, so wish id noticed it at the time but as per usual things were rushed and i didnt. Thanks...

    Daughter white wall shot .....

I took this shot my daughter before one of her dance festivals. Lighting was a very simple clamshell setup. A single speedlight in a rapidbox overhead with a silver reflector below for fill. Background was my hallway wall. Just a bit of fun with the quote etc, but any c+c good or bad welcome...

    Person event post-processing workflow?

All depends on your level of knowledge and how much time you are willing to spend editing/learning really. Are we talking photoshop, Lightroom or a bit of both? If you have lots of images to edit then you should really consider some presets, either creating your own or buying some. As with all...

    Best modifiers for AD200

Cheers Phil, what size beauty dish if you don't mind me asking? I don't want to buy something to big, but at the same time not too small either and i have no experience in using one to have a judgement .....

    Best modifiers for AD200

Appreciate your response Garry, thanks. I did think it looked quite small and i'm prepared to spend a little more on something decent, so i'll be definitely be having a look at that beauty dish you linked. Oh and thanks for the tip on the barn doors :)

    Best modifiers for AD200

Thats on my list of considerations, i do like the look of it. Very similar to my Rapidbox but with a grid, looks slightly smaller i think.

    Best modifiers for AD200

Having ditched my Nikon speedlights for Godox i'm now in the market for some (reasonably priced) light modifiers. I bought a TT685 this week of which i'm very impressed with and have an AD200 on the way. Its just the light and none of the relectors, barn doors etc that some packages come bundled...

    Do Godox trigger Nikon flashes

Thanks for the quick reply Phil. I thought that was the case but just wanted to double check. Still gonna go for one, and probably get a few receivers or maybe even sell the Nikon flashes and get godox ones as they will have receivers built in. Need to work out first if its worth the hassle...

    Do Godox trigger Nikon flashes

Really tempted to get myself the Godox AD200 seen as theres been so many good things said about it. I was just wondering how it would integrate into my current setup. I've read that Godox can work within other systems but my question is ..... if i were to the buy the AD200 with either the X1T...

    Louise - Photoshop Edition

Love it and love the processing. I thought the eyes might be a bit overdone but i only thought that after seeing the before, had i not seen that i probably wouldn't have thought that. Great job on the skin, nicely done

    26" Rapid Box - Grid req'd

Can't believe the price of these things, but i picked one up a few years back on Amazon when they were a lot cheaper at the time. Anyway, was thinking of getting a grid like this for it, but can't seem to find one anywhere. Its one that fits round the outside, not Velcro. Any ideas anyone...

    Music Photography: Best of 2017

Wow, what an awesome set of captures. You should be proud of yourself, great shots that are sharp in all the right places, and contrasty mono conversions. What lens were you using out of interest?
