Thank you for the comments, I managed to get quite a lot of keeper shots, but rather than firing away i was a little more calm an making sure they was correctly in focus etc

fair enough....... despite using an imac and an ipad the one apple product i can't stand is the iphone just another reason not to get one ,as the description is there on my android

Luckily for me i was up on the concrete wall and was shooting at about 400mm so the camera did not really have any sand on it.

Another couple of observations...

They're all shot at fairly high shutter speeds so things like the spokes on the wheels and the backgrounds aren't showing any movement. Panning at around 1/120th or slower would introduce some blurring and also isolate the bikes from the slightly distracting backgrounds.

As for cleaning the camera after it's been sand showered, I just leave mine in a sink full of lukewarm water for a while before rinsing it under a running tap. The joys of using waterproof cameras!
