2nd attempt at Portland Bill

Went back to Portland again to try getting the composition right this time after making some mistakes on my 1st night time outing.

On Flickr it says 118 sec exposure, but that's obviously for the foreground.
What exposure did you use for the sky?

The sky was also 2 minutes but tracked

foreground is great but the colours in the milkyway are way off. i bet theres a load of detail in that 2 min exposure just needs pulling out.

Can I ask. I assume with a tracking head, you need to then blend images for foreground and MW in PS later?

Great shot with a super composition- it’s all down to personal taste but I would tone done the colours in the Milky Way as they appear somewhat over saturated

Yes you do. When tracking the stars the camera is slowing moving so your foreground image would be blurry

Nicely composed and merged. I admit I have been tempted with a tracker but they looks such a faff to set up!!

I'm not a purist on processing, I'm good with a bit of artistic interpretation but the colours do look a bit too red for me. I'd be tempted to pull it back a bit.

But overall a lovely image.
