Beginner 4MT comments please.

Don’t know if I like this photo of Standard 4MT tank engine No. 80072 at the Epping Ongar railway steam gala think the red warning light draws you to it to much your comments please.

all around, a suggestion:

bearing in mind this is just my opinion. Its way to flat, the sky is of no help whatsoever being dull grey. The entire red lamp / white barrier is far to dominant and takes the eye away from the loco imo. The angle that the shot was taken from is way to tight for a classis rake shot but to wide for a head on shot so its all left a bit hanging in no mans land I think. So all in all it just doesn't work for me, but that is only my opinion of course. Sorry to be so negative.

Unfortunately there is no point in messing with the small details if the basic composition fails, and unfortunately hanging over a level crossing gate rarely achieves a satisfactory shot.

Recommend next time being a little more creative with the feet and finding something a little different.

As it stands it will appeal to steam buffs but not to critical photographers.
