Thought folk might be interested in a few pictures from a recent 5 day trip to see the in-laws.

The ubiquitous Willie Wagtail, full of attitude.

Classic Kookaburra, actually a pretty big bird.

The much maligned Galah,

The frankly huge Australian Pelican.

A Nankeen Kestrel, no crop whatsoever!

Tawny Frogmouth, slightly bizarre thing.

Just a Silver Gull, but I like the light through the feathers.

Love the pose of the Wagtail, certainly looks like he's got attitude ... Scarlet Robin is nice but the Stone Curlew has to be my favourite :)

Great set thanks for sharing! AS Roger said, you can definitely see the attitude in the wagtail, great capture! My favourite has to be the frogmouth, reminds me of a nightjar.

oh nice set and good to see something different species wise

Cheers, it is always more exciting to see foreign birds, even if they aren't unusual in their native country.

I always wondered what the locals thought of the idiot taking pictures of the Galahs (which are considered a pest), and the wagtails. It'd be like seeing someone stalking pigeons in the UK with a big camera.

What a nice bunch of atypical birds there!
Good picture and special "What is that thing" moment when i saw the Tawny Frogmouth picture!
