No complaint from me with these Alf, all cracking shots.
IMO the spider could have done with a lower angled shot but great anyway.

really god set of images from your back garden safari.....what set up were you using, out of interest? cheers

I use an Olympus OMD E-M1 with a 4/3 Sigma 105 a 25mm extension tube and a Raynoc 250 and Nissin flash and homemade diffuser. Do not get hung up camera type

I'll liking what you've down with the flash bracket. How is that broken down? And where did you get the parts from?

Lee a look through the show us your macro rig thread will give you numerous ideas personally I am looking for a better quailty flash bracket than the one I have from ebay. See the links in my reply to mightyboosh

Great stuff Alf , so looking forward to some macro this year.

Thanks Neil

Hi Alf

Great set. That fly was patient.
Am I correct in thinking that the sigma is already a macro lens and that the extension tubes and Rynox diopter just boost the mag?
So the question is, is it worth buying a diopter like the Raynox when I already have a 105mm macro. I also have a 1.4 tc that fits.

Thanks
Peter

I would say yes it's worth it, great bit of kit, used on a 105 lens will give you great shots but it might take a bit of getting used to it.

Thanks. As well as the Raynox I see Marumi mentioned. Any difference?

These things are worth stacking to get more Magnification though things do get more diufficult have a look at this https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/show-us-your-macro-rig.132158/page-13#post-7053510

Have a look in the show your macro rig by following the link above these are discussed and if you can face the epic slog that is Nick's thread read this (his videos are worth watching)

No Idea about the Marumi

As far as Marumi vs Raynox goes, no need to wade through all that stuff - in amongst it all this post has a comparison of a Marumi 200 and Raynox 150. That was a test setup comparison, but I got similar results, especially regarding chromatic aberration, when I used the Marumi for some real-world sessions - wasps in flight mainly. (This may seem to contradict what I said in the linked post, namely that I had some Marumi wasp shots that were ok. That is true, but while going through my backlog recently I found a number of others from those sessions and there were a lot of CA issues. Seems that I had picked out some that were ok to post and then forgot about the ones I rejected because of CA issues.)

Great set of shots, and I love the flies, can`t wait till my macro lens goes back on (y)(y)
Thanks Dave.
No need to wait it's a matter of looking harder at this time of year or higher magnification for springtails etc.
