That sounds like the way to go then (y)

As to Regions I think that it would be better to have it slightly more defined than the Meeting Place, my suggested list would be

    Scottish Highlands/Islands,
    Central Scotland
    Border Region
    North East England
    North West England
    Yorkshire & Humber
    East Midlands
    West Midlands
    East of England
    South East England
    South West England
    Greater London
    North Wales
    South Wales
    Northern Ireland
    IOM/Channel

    Rest of World*

*I would probably be good to have a tag for this (y)

There could then be a sticky to help people if they're unsure about the location they need to select (y)

    At the very least:
    • British Empire; and
    • Heathen lands

Although I'd prefer the less jingoistic/xenophobic:
    • Europe
    • Africa
    • Asia
    • Antarctica
    • Oceania
    • North America
    • South America
    (y)

Antarctica I suspect would be a very under used tag

It's great to see this new section idea forming up, I look forward to seeing a launch (y)

Has anyone else any suggestions for the breakdown of prefix options? as an alternate/addition to the combined above lists

Oceania is already on the list.. generally taken to cover the continent of Australasia and the Malay peninsula..

    Me likey this idea.

As well as the actual location, there could be encouraged for people to put the nearest parking (if not onsite or nearly). And maybe a streetview of the nearest road, if people so chose?

(Yes, yes I like streetviews, so sue me)

Ideally then you'd want people to do for the title

[South-West] Cornwall, Caerhays Beach - for instance
    or
[South-West] Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean, Mallards Pike

So basically it's easy for people to see the location.

yeah but most people , me included won't know where or what oceana is (apart from a crap nightclub in MK) , I'd assumed it was the ocean territories like pacific islands, artic ice cap etc - and i'd consider the Malay pensinsula and phillipines, borneo/indonesia etc to be Asia.

    Easter bump..

.. and a request, any recommended locations around Mull? Doing a very slow lap by boat so access to coastal locations shouldn't be a problem.

British Board of Film Classification - I think that the BBC may well have adopted the Mull Rule, but it originated at the BBFC ;)

good point , might be an idea to have 'Eire' as well as it doesnt reasonably fit into any of the other prefixes

Doh - didnt notice that one :bonk:

mind you i'd thought that seperateing NI and Eire would help us tiptoe through the potential minefield of 'is NI part of Ireland" and "is Ireland part of the UK as the prefixes seem to imply" - a number of people have got a little excited about that over the years and I wouldnt want you to find an IED in the jaffa cake cupboard
