Inspired by a theme on a website about blurring a subject to get abstract patterns. My subject was a glass tube with 5 dimpled sphere's filled with different coloured liquids that rise and fall to tell the temperature.

Shot at f2.8 to get the smallest depth of field and deliberately out of focus to varying degrees.

As always thoughts and comments welcome.

I prefer the last one, the more in focus parts seem to give more of a sense of intent. Nice effort, good colours.

Thanks Chris. It was a bit strange deliberately trying to get things out of focus (usually it's the other way, trying to get things in focus), but the idea was to try and create interesting abstract out of focus images, so out of them all I prefer #3

Yes, I know what you mean, #3 had caught my eye but I guess it's just getting used to it since it is a bit of a leap for the old brain. Printed and hung on the wall it would probably be easier to appreciate. Good effort, I keep wanting to do some more abstract stuff my self but really find it had to let go of sharpness...

Thanks Chris and Keith. I find myself more and more drawn to doing more of this type of imagery than anything else. There are some wonderful macro people on here and those that specialise in sports, wildlife, birds and landscapes. So I'm looking for my own style. It's all just a bit of an experiment at the moment, so I'm looking at all sorts of influences or ideas to create something a bit different. Not always sure I'm acheiveing it.
