After the rain - some flies

[GardenersHelper]

These were captured hand-held a couple of days ago in our garden with a Panasonic FZ330 bridge camera and Raynox 150 (the first one might have used a second 150), with KX800 twin flash. The raw files were processed in DXO Optics Pro, Silkypix and Lightroom. There are 1300 pixel high versions in this album at Flickr.

Thanks Paul. I got lucky with that one. When I first saw it the fly was on the edge of a leaf, parallel to the ground. It was astonishing to see that big droplet on its head - I would have thought it would have dropped off. I tried taking some shots, straight down from above, but it was really awkward to reach and none of them worked. It then moved to a more normal, and much easier to get at, position, and stayed there for ages so I could take loads of shots.

BTW, someone at dpreview just asked about the Laowa 60mm macro. I pointed them at your images here and your review at ephotozine. My post at dpreview is here.

Pete, I quite like #5 too for its unusual/wacky appearance, but tbh the sharpness/DoF coverage is a bit lacking to my eye. (A capture issue rather than a processing issue I think.)

Thanks Alby. I would have really liked to move just a bit more to the left with #8 so the white petal would have framed the fly, but that was as far round as I could get.
