In preparation for a talk, I came across this image of a Kingfisher I took back in 2010. This was the very first time I photographed a Kingfisher. It was a small brook near home. No bait, no artificially introduced perch, just weeks of waiting for the bird and light to come together at 6am. This is a full-frame shot taken with a D700 & the 500mm f4 lens. Six years on and after many sessions with KF at different locations, this remains my favourite.

+1

…though MY first was way not so fine,
it was my first and I was very excited too!

Very nice kingfisher (y)

I'm quite a fan of this type of shot, bird in good light, expose for the bird, bg in shade and comes out nearly black.Although I've seen some negatives about it over the last couple of years, it works for me :)
