Hi guys

I'm sure many of us have visited this superbly rich country as there is just so much to photograph, it's actually quite daunting.

I hope you enjoy - the full gallery is here

Here are a few faves (of mine)

Cheers

Beautiful work man, I especially enjoy your first image, the framing is just superb.

Iceland is on my goto list, there are some cheap flights in June, what is car-hire like over there?

Thanks for the comment. We flew directly from Manchester and although the flights weren't too bad, it's expensive when you're here, especially alcohol. Car hire was fine, about £60 for 24hrs with basic insurance and we used half a tank of diesel which cost about the same as UK prices. The Americans who holiday there (probably the dominant nationality there) thought the fuel was really expensive of course. We did about 400km in the car - despite renting the cheapest (Toyota Aygo) they upgraded us to an Octavia Saloon which was probably better for the type of roads we used. If you want to explore the 'F Roads' (gravel/off road/some highland roads) you have to have a 4x4 and they cost more to rent.

I like number 7 :)

Think i had lunch in the car park of number 10 on visit in 2015 :) I was trying to find a particular geothermal area to shoot but failed miserably & weather was miserable. still havn't finished editing my 2016 photos haha. rubbish.

@EddyWelbz Peak time is June to end of August so car hire will be more expensive than off season/shoulder season, just fyi. I've had a good experience with Geysir and Blue car rental, who are about 5min walk from airport terminal. I found them to be the cheapest including all insurances (there really are some horror stories about people not getting sand/ash/gravel protection etc, so my advice is to get it). There is a good blog called 'i heart reykjavik' which is good for reading up before you travel and the author also has an offer with Budget car rental which is said to be cheaper than going direct to Budget (but i found geysir and blue to be cheaper personally).

Thanks I wish I knew that before I went. As it was our honeymoon we didn't want a car all week and instead did a couple of tours that picked up from the hotel so we didn't have to lift a finger but when I go back I'll look into those companies and hopefully do some off roading!

@ped obviously when i saw 'the cheapest' - thats relative to costs in Iceland of course! :) - and do read up on the rules around off roading in Iceland as there have been some well publicized cases of people being complete dick heads in their rental cars & damaging delicate flora and fauna.

Yeah I bet. We saw one mountain where a scout group had etched a message on the face in the 60s, you can still see it because it takes the moss so long to grow.
