Anyone see the eclipse?

Sadly not totality from the US but only a small partial. It was nice though, with the added bonus of not one but two sun spot groups. Handheld with Tamron 70-300mm lens at too low a shutter speed for me but at least I got something. This was about 5 minutes before 'eclipse set'.

Cloudy here (Maidenhead). That's three times I've attached my solar filter to the lens in anticipation of a special event, and three times I've not been able to see the sun at the critical time. Oh well. Maybe I should try to get into sunspot collecting.

Yes, watching the dust bunnies move around is addictive......................
Some guys from the astronomical society went to the States for the whole thing. They apparently had a great view but some people 5 miles down the road just looked at the inside of a cloud.............

Yes, I went.

Here is totality - I'll try and add a composite later. We went to western Idaho, a location I'd researched from maps and it surpassed expectations - 360 degrees, no clouds. A few eclipse chasers. So memorable!

Wow! What an experience! I saw the 1999 eclipse from off the French coast. No photos but the memories never fade.
