This may be a bad photograph in the usual sense of birders
— and I think so too — but it is a very decent illustration of
a spooky apparition of a "spirit" that may look benevolent.

Many many apologies, I didn't not mean to ignore your question :-(
this shot was taken with a piece of fern over the front of the lens, held in place with a rubber band, I did try test shots before the final buzzard shot, making sure the lens could focus to some degree, sorry again for the very late reply :-(

You should try other images with a piece of fern over the front of the lens. In the woods, at a cemetery.

Cheers Dave, unfortunately like most ideas I get, I tried it this once and then let it fall by the wayside and moved on to other things :-(
