North England Astrophotography

Going to go out and try my hand at this very soon with a couple of friends, can anyone recommend some good locations?

I'm in the Stockport area so would like some ideas of where there are some good spots within a maybe 20 mile area, i was thinking of maybe heading towards Buxton.

I live close by to you (Cheadle) and have been up to the peak district near Macc forest a few times for some night photography, pretty dark up there !

Yeah i know Macclesfield quite well and Buxton, think we will head for Surprise View and play it by ear.
