Yes
I'm looking for some assistance on my photography as it is really poor compared to others that I've seen taken with teh same combo of body/lens.
The kit I'm using should be fine, a 7D mk1 and Canon 300mm f/4 prime.

A couple of examples: (some cropping, some manipulation in Lightroom)

Now these were taken in very good light, albeit the F15 was taken at a 45 degree angle, so nearly into the sunlight.
I'm really disappointed with the clarity in these shots. I think my panning technique is good and the Osprey shot was taken with almost no movement from the subject.

I know the 7D is susceptible to noise, but at ISO100 in sunlight why am I getting such poor results?
I have checked the microfocus and it seems to be spot on.

I can post originals if that would help.

Any help would be appreciated

"Some manipulation in light room"? From, RAW, or from jpeg? Camera in one or another auto exposure mode or manual? Did you use exposure compensation? I note the Flickr images these images link to show no EXIF data, so there are no clues as to how you took the shot.

Ah, apologies.
All taken in RAW, Aperture mode. Neutral exposure.
I've uploaded a JPG of the original shot. RAW can be provided.

re the first, with rotor and prop aircraft you need motion blur of the rotors/props (been there & done it myself) so a tripod or other means of support might be considered for slower shutter speeds. Jets, faster the shutter spped the better

Hi,

To be honest with you, when viewing them in Flickr, I thought they looked fine. I think I would be quite happy with both of those shots.

Image quality looks great to me - in focus, sharp, nice tones and colour. I'm not sure what you think is wrong with them, other than perhaps its a bit "empty" in the background. The only thing I could say could have been improved on the chopper shot, would have been more rotor-blur.

I'm less worried about the prop blur than the lack of general clarity and intrusion of noise at low iso.

i think its more the fact that you have cropped 40 % & it was a long, long way away...

The Eagle shot, would be better if you shot it from the sunnyside. Lakenheath photos should be taken from the East side, or forest entrance area, your results would be 100% better.
Cheers Steve
