Around 72 years ago 13 men lost their lives when the Boeing B29 Superfortress they were travelling in crashed into high ground.
Recently I visited the crash site for the first time, where extensive wreckage still exists including some clearly identifiable parts. It's a sombre scene, especially shrouded in low cloud, perhaps conditions similar to the day it made it's final flight?

Thanks for posting this Chris, it seems inappropriate just to give it a "like".

Very sombre with the poppies and crosses there. Derbyshire? I just googled it. I've been to some crash sites from WW2 where there is wreckage - a couple on Dartmoor and one in NW Scotland - and they have much the same tale to tell. High ground got in the way. Navigation and the ability to fly in bad weather wasn't then what we take for granted today.

Yes Derbyshire, the plane has quite an interesting history as a photography plane, and is named "Over Exposed"
