Baku is hot in the summer, 37 degrees C, middle of the afternoon and bright sunshine. Not your obvious conditions for photography. However the Caspian Sea was flat and still as a millpond. Beautiful reflections and a different perspective.

Spontaneous grabs but luckily I had my wide angle to hand and I'm pleased with how the worked. I liked a mono conversion of this, it has a little more punch then the very blue colour version. I nee to get back for an early sunrise with hopefully similar conditions.

C&C welcome.

A cool composition where the lack of DR comes mainly
from the not so correct colours prior to conversion.

Thanks Kodiak. Not sure I get your comment about lack of DR and colours. The overall image was quite blue, as I remember the day. A clear blue sunny day with blue sky reflected in the water.

I don't mind others alternative edits. I'll upload the colour version when I get online from my PC later.
Thanks
Alan

very nice composition and reflections which I think will look much better in colour

Correct colours and proper DRL will translate in a
dynamic tonal range after conversion.

The tonal range, here, is (IMO and my eye!) not a
well exploited DR so the colours were not WBed a-

adequately and the DRL not set correctly to achieve
a good conversion.

I am not talking about the blue toning applied to the
rendition as this is your artistic intent and this is your
very privilege… I would never discuss that!

Kodiak,

These are the colour original and my processed version. I'm not offended by your comments but I'm curious how you would tackle this in terms of the dynamic range you describe. Looking back, I maybe have made this "more" blue, but yes, perhaps that is my artistic intent:)

It's always interesting to see how someone else would approach an edit.

Cheers

Alan

Rightful privilege Alan but I cannot produce
a decent edit on a jpg in this case, I would
do with the RAW file of you wish.
