there are a number of different ways of doing it and the skewer was my first idea 5 years ago, perhaps its the UK bananas but they were so soft that the bits just flopped all over the place. Found it a lot easier to take multiple shots and put together in photoshop - this one is a combination of 9

That looks like a *lot* of work, well done.

The shadows don't look quite right to me - shouldn't each piece should be casting a shadow on the section below?

bearing in mind it is a compilation of 10 shots, I am not too sure where, if in real life the shadows would have fallen on the individual slices so far better not to bother with them. It got me a 10 in the comp so quite happy
