I captured these in our garden yesterday with a Sony A7ii with 2X and 1.4X teleconverters on a Laowa 2X macro lens, and a Venus Optics KX800 twin flash. The effective apertures for these were probably smaller than f/128.

The raw files were converted using a preset in PhotoLab, followed by image-specific adjustments in Lightroom and output sharpening and noise reduction in DeNoise AI.

These images are taken from a sequence of 17 images in this album at Flickr, which contains 1300 pixel high versions of the images.

Thanks Alf. I've been complaining for a while about lack of variety in our garden, but now I've started looking at smaller subjects I'm being pleasantly surprised by what I'm finding. (It probably helps that there is a lot of leaf fall around at the moment, although I haven't had to turn anything over or move anything to find what I've been coming across.)

The A7ii setup is making photographing them a practical proposition too. I had a short session this morning (40 minutes until I got rained off). I shot around 350 captures and it looks like I'll be keeping 28 of them, which is 8%. Given that I was shooting at 5.6X almost all of the time I'm well content with that.

I haven't shot any small stuff for a bit but when I get some decent weather I want to get out.
