Gorgeous bird. The background is super clean, no distractions whatsoever, I'm guessing, a very wide aperture?

I'm visualising the fence, covered in algae, moss and lichen ( you may have a bit of a wait for that ) but to be honest, wouldn't mind this being mine exactly as it is.

Re the aperture, probably about f5.6 with the 500f4 + 1.4TC on a 1D3.

Hi Laurence...thanks, as for the shot, it was taken in the middle of May at about 8am, can't remember the lighting conditions unfortunately.
