Nice start!

Bit of a cheesey start and you're in a bit of a pickle with that horizon. I like it :D

I'm on the slippery slope.

Good start there. I like the simplicity and the geometry.

Thanks Bob,

it wasn't that simple to set up, I was going for the light and dark of the cheese in black, the light of the onion in black and then trying to get the toothpick dark on the light. Took me a few goes.

I really like these minimalist food shots. It's got me thinking that's for sure!

Thank you all for your kind words!

They are really appreciated as I have not shown my pictures to anyone but family before.

I like how you double rot13 encrypted that

COLD

The swan was hopping about changing its feet and almost seemed to be blowing on them in turn. I though to myself "Flipping heck it must be cold" :)

It looks a little blue on my tablet - but that adds to the "cold" feel. The picture certainly tells a story!

Thanks for the comments guys,

I did wonder about the colour but I could not get rid of it.

I took the shot from the top of a bridge over the canal with the bright sunshine coming from over my right shoulder. I concentrated on the inky blackness looking down into the ice and thought it must be some kind of reflection.
I could be wrong though, probably am, as rubbish at PP.

I agree with @Shugpug, it is a little on the blue side - but that does emphasize the cold :)
If you want to make it more white, then the colour balance tool would be your friend. What image editing software do you use?
That said, it's more important to capture an interesting photo that necessarily a technically perfect one, and you've done well in that regard.

Could I ask that you put the week and subject (and technique if applicable) as a title on the main thread, not just on your personal one, as that helps with updating the records :) Ta.

hello Tim,

Thanks for the posting advice, I will try my best to get the hang of it.

I use Phase one but its an old version, eight, which I purchased some time ago now. I have also downloaded Darktable and had a bit of a play with that also.

This image is phase one. I have seen the colour wheels but been afraid to mess about with them too much. But saying that, I have come here to learn so all advice is well received.

Thanks for running the thread, keep up the good work.
