I love the light on the subjects face- however: I personally would lighten the BG to give it a more realistic look. just my opinion

Thanks for the feedback. I'm pleased you picked up on this point.
I think you know from previous uploads of mine I tend to be light hearted on my edits and not alter things to much.
Times like this when I think i'll try and push things it always seems to draw attension.
I do have the version like yours above.
Now they are placed side by side it really drives the point home.

I think there is merit in both images.
In the first, maybe the background is a little 'milky(?)' but the emphasis is directed to the gents face straight away.
In shot 2, which is made slightly 'busier', I think the characters face competes with the lighting.
That's why I'd opt for No1, but I do like both versions.

I can see why you might edit the image as presented here Gary, but it made me think "why's that blokes face white?". Les' version looks more natural to me and works more as an image in which the subject is a part.

Maybe there is an happy medium to be found.
