Terrible QC at MB's body shop these days - panel fit is atrocious!!! ;)

…panel fit is atrocious!!! ;)

I know… model cars are not what they use to be!
Still good enough for a lighting and focus stacking exercise.

Love the lighting.

Very nice setup and lighting. It's difficult to see the effectiveness of the stacking as there are a number of compression artifacts from the jpeg conversion, but I can't see any obvious errors. A successful result to the exercise I believe.

Well, as an exercise I think he did well.
What stacking software did he/you use?

Since I don't use any of the Master Collection software I sold, I turned to ukrainian
solutions called HeliconFocus and Helicon Remote. Very pleased with that!

Thanks for replying.
Yes, I know them.
Tried Helicon, and Zerene works well too.
If I were to need a stacking programme, it would probably be Helicon I would use.
Keep up the good work !
(And that goes for your son too !)

Cheers,
Gary.

Looks fab - stacking is a skill I need to practice; ta for the share!

Hey Neil,
nope, no focussing rail (and I would not recommend anyone to use them). All my
stackings are done through an app taking control of the numerous minute focussing
increments required.

Handheld? No chance!

I made myself a rail that supports both a body and the 105 macro. Since the lens is IF,
focussing is easily operated. The whole assembly is attached to a tripod at the centre
of gravity to reduce any possible shake.

I quite like using a rail, just don't get much time to use it. I'd certainly use one for a subject like this though and would expect to get decent results with a static subject.

Which app do you use?

Handheld is difficult but can result in some very good results if the subject stays still!!!
