I've been shooting MMA and some Boxing recently and find i'm not very successful with getting the focus spot on.
I use a Nikon D500 and D850.
On the D500 i have the 24-120 f4 and on the D850 i have the 24-70 f2.8 non vr.
I shoot them both wide open to get the iso down(AutoISO) and shutter speed up(normally 1/1000th).
I know this is limiting the DOF, especially @ f2.8.
Lighting is normally terrible at each event with little chance of improving.
I've tried numerous focus settings and always end back to single point continuous on BBF.
Is there anyone here that uses a NIkon to shoot these sports and if so can you talk me through the optimal setup.
